I get this, but they play was happening at full speed. If the ball isn't poked out before Sissoko is there, then Sissoko is making all his contact with the ball and Ayo's arms. He obviously had intent to foul hard, but I'm not going to infer that he had intent to slam Ayo in the face.
Look guys. Tom Izzo didn’t tell Adrean Payne to rape that girl. It’s just when he did he needed Adreans rebounding to win more basketball games. So really it wasn’t that big a deal either. Think about it.

maybe the millionaire leader of men should be an adult and stop allowing his players to be trash. Oh, but that might cost him some wins.

Anyone attempting to defend this guy because the ball was not there simply doesn't understand life. If he is trying to block a shot you don't swing both arms down at the player - you do that only with intent to harm.
This. He tried to hurt one of the best players in college basketball and the big ten conference isn’t going to do anything about it. This is why the top kids don’t come to our conference.

As a worry wort, this also opens up Ayo to a greater chance of COVID exposure. Doctors offices, multiple staff hospital interactions, etc.
Izzo really thought this out well. "HMMMM, we can eliminate Illinois from the BTT if we do this. Yes, we have a better chance of making it to the NCAA by eliminating teams prior to BTT. We too shall eliminate OSU and scUM the same way from our remaining schedule." You get an elbow, you get a hammer fist, you get a flying dragon scissor kick!

Leaves the door wide open for them to play Iowa in the title game of BTT and get in the back door.

That Izzo, always thinking 5 steps down the line

The silence from the B10 is deafening at this point, but absolutely not surprising. Can't wait to hear their network make excuses as to why NOT EVEN A COMMON FOUL WAS CALLED ON THE PLAY that broke a player's nose. The refusal of the B10 to acknowledge what has happened is patent approval of any retribution upcoming to MSU on the court.

As Robert so eloquently put it, Sissoko was making no attempt to block the shot. That was a Laimbeer:

No surprise, since this new commissioner there has been no leadership in this conference.

Very interested to hear Underwood's take after the game. Although, lately, he has been very reserved with the press.

They don't want to hear Izzo whining for months about it like he does in game officiating

We can beat Nebraska without Ayo, but that Wisconsin game will be tough. Going to need some exceptional 3pt shooting on Sat.

On the plus side, these two games could be a good opportunity for others to step up and realize they can continue to contribute offensively even after Ayo is back.
Really, this is the only positive I see with this situation.

Jesus MJ had it rough.
There was no play on the ball and a huge follow through. He was obviously trying to put Ayo on the ground. Izzo told his team to foul hard and that's exactly what Sissoko did.

A front runner for NPOY and B1G POY is sh#t whipped by a Izzo "street fighter".....silence from the B1G. This should all but close the book on what the B1G thinks of Illinois vs their national sports viewership bread winners.

It's beyond question that Sissoko should be suspended no less than 2 games....and the officials should be reprimanded for their failure to even call a foul on the play.

This is depressing. I hope ayo gets to play in the tournament. Imagine all he’s done for this program and he doesn’t get to play in it. Glad Tom needed to play physical and have his street fight.

I watched it in real time 3 times and I gotta disagree. There are other areas of the body to foul hard that don’t involve blows to the head.

I really hope coach speaks up on this. He needs to protect his star player as much as possible. Future recruits are watching.
Great point, and one that the B10 needs to take note of. As has been pointed out, the last B10 national champion was MSU in 2000. In large part due to the way the league conducts their games in my opinion. Style of play should be examined, but I do not hold out any hope that it will be.

I honestly wish we were in another league this is a joke. Izzo should be reprimanded and thug man should be suspended. It should not take video replay to have to even call a common foul it was terrible.
