The coaching carousel is moving *now*. It seems improbable you could get another hire without actively looking at the end of the season.

Put me in with the crowd that's mystified by this.

Steve spurrier is available.

Just because someone accuses someone of something doesn't mean it happened. It also doesn't mean it didn't happen. If an independent investigation showed that Cubit is innocent of wrong doing then I think he should get the benefit of the doubt. Is a 2 year contract ideal, absolutely not, but get over it and support the guy.

So they're saying Beckman resigned? Is that new? I thought for sure he was fired and was going to fight it in the courts since Illinois wasn't going to pay any more of his contract.

Not sure where you're getting that from. The NG article clearly says Beckman was fired 8/28.

Bill Cubit will receive at least $250,000 buyout if he's fired before the end of his contract, says Chancellor Barbara Wilson

That's not a buyout, it's a 15% tip.

Also, probably not coincidently, the same number per contract year as Tracy Claeys buyout, which I assume, having done no research, is the lowest in the B1G if not the whole Power-5. Not that recruits are supposed to read anything into that, of course.

Did Mitchem actually have to explain to the BOT why the DIA is an embarrassment? I figured that was self-evident by now.

I thought the point Mitchem made about Cubit Jr. was worth bringing up. That really got swept under the rug a hell of a lot more than it should have.

I mean.. unless his dad sent him to his room or grounded him or something

Sent him to his room, won't let him use the car for two weeks, made him do dishes for two weeks, and clean the cat box for a week. Them's some punishments now I'm telling ya'

Cubit does seem like more of a cat person...

In the picture above you can imagine him with a big white long haired cat sitting on his lap, Cubit is waiting for the next minion to come into his office and ask for something, in return Cubit would ask for a future favor, something that he may never follow up on.... but out there none the less

I hope your children never make a mistake. What do you know of this kid? Is he kind? Is he a good citizen? You and your children must be saints! Focus on football not the coaches family!

The focus was on football. Like Mitchell said, when the players get caught, they get in trouble. When the son of the Head Coach gets caught, he gets a promotion. That doesn't seem right. I hold my own children accountable. There are consequences for mistakes no matter how much grace someone may have for another.

There is this great arbiter of justice known as the court system to handle his punishment. He's hardly getting a free pass on this as he'll have to deal with the legal ramifications. When you're talking about a misdemeanor I highly disagree it should significantly affect his work life (such as being punished further). Just don't let him drive for any part of his job. Now whether he was deserving of the position/promotion in the first place or not based on merit is a whole different debate...
