Anybody plan on seeing Fury this weekend? I'll be catching it Tuesday. I'm interested to see how David Ayer follows up his 2012 film, End of Watch.

That's probably a Netflix movie for me unless it gets "can't miss" reviews.

Birdman has me intrigued though. Inarritu has made some interesting, ambitious films.

We have a "$5 Ticket Tuesday" at my local theater that I use for most of those 'tweener theater/Netflix movies.

Birdman is getting great early reviews. Nightcrawler also has my full attention.

We have one of those deals during the summer. I think it's 2.50 a ticket.

Not exactly Box Office but I saw Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tonight. It was pretty good! Ace from Idol fame was Joseph. He did a nice job. Still has the hair too.

I know a few of us are really looking forward to Interstellar. I'll be at the first showing the morning of Nov 8.

Be sure and watch the videos in these links. Most recent trailer with some things not seen before, some pretty interesting insight into black holes, and the last link is humorous.

I've been a fan of Gyllenhaal's since Donnie Darko.

I guess I was talking specific to this movie. He weirded me out because he was so good. I too am a fan of his. I would definitely recommend checking this one out.

I knew what you meant. I just threw that out there because Darko was the first movie I ever saw him in.

Planning on catching it Saturday. Making it a full day at the theater; Fury, Nightcrawler, and Interstellar.

By yourself, I hope! Give us an update on all 3 please!

I just seen previews for foxcatcher. It looks amazing, and it looks like Steve Carrell gives us his best performance ever. It's a must see for me.

I just got back from Interstellar. I'll preface my report by saying that I'm a big Sci-Fi fan and that I'll not give out any spoilers so read on.

It was a good movie. Not average, but not great either, and certainly not epic. It raised a lot of questions, some they answered, others they didn't. There were some really great scenes, I had to wipe tears away at least once, and others that were somewhat bewildering. If you enjoy this genre you'll probably want to see it in a theater, there were some pretty cool scenes that it takes a big screen to convey. If you do wait to watch at home I hope you have a nice big screen and surround sound! I was hoping to be blown away by this one, but wasn't. I'd give it a B. Once a few of you have seen it perhaps we can discuss it in a bit more detail.

AZ I have yet to see it but there's one complaint I've kept hearing from people who've seen it (and no this isn't a spoiler on the film itself so people can't complain on here). The main complaint I've heard is that the film is too long (apparently 2 hours 40 minutes long or somewhere around there). I also heard others say that McConaughey and Hathaway weren't believable in their roles in the film but I guess that matters on a person's preferences when watching a film.

It was long, but it didn't really seem so. I always get an xlarge soda at the movies and had to hold it the last 30 minutes because I didn't want to miss anything. McConaughey was fine I thought. Hathaway, all I'll say there is that I've never been a fan of hers so I'll let you decide on her role.

To make a comparison of sorts, last years Gravity did well and I enjoyed watching it but never felt connected with Clooney or Bullock. Interstellar is equally as impressive with its cinematography (no green screen I read somewhere???), and the characters were better developed.

It was worth my 7 bucks!

If you're not looking for action/adventure (except for a few seconds) and are interested in film technique, choreography, and originality ... Birdman is extraordinary. Going again just to look at the "single shot" attempts and the integration of the very unique score. Definitely a film for adults (i.e. have lived to experience some of life's ups and downs).

9/10 for me!

Interstellar next up.

No spoilers ahead:

Just caught Interstellar this afternoon. I'm with agreement that it is a slightly above average film. Sci-Fi fans would probably appreciate it much more than a moderate fan of the genre like me. Some of the scenes in space were beautifully well-done special effects (Gargantuan? I was enthralled.), but there something left to be desired. Perhaps I was spoiled by Gravity? The story was jam packed with a lot of information, so if you do see it, be prepared for that (the movie is nearly 3 hours long). Also, I was very surprised by a certain actor's appearance. Had no idea he would be in it!

Same here! I immediately thought, "Is that who I think it is?!?!" Although all you saw was his face it looked like he's put on a few pounds.

Regarding your 'review' of the movie, I agree. Seems like there was enough there, as well as enough unanswered questions, that they could have shortened it and done a 2nd and maybe even a 3rd movie.
