So I guess we are still on the bubble. Only have to win 3 more games, I assume

Illinois will never turn down an NIT bid, neither should they ever do that. Even more so with JW who is a relatively young AD, but I do not believe any AD would ever do that.
We did Weber's last year.

Edit:
Actually we bowed out and said we would not accept an NIT offer if we received one.

Illinois would have accepted an NIT invite in 2012, but was snubbed. (It was the CBI tournament that Illinois would've turned down back then.)

Correct, the Illini never turned down an NIT bid, neither should they ever turn it down. Whitman will certainly not do it.

I don't get everyone trying to figure out ways for us to get to the dance. We don't deserve to dance.

People still want to see us in the field. Except for a few posters. And teams that don't belong make it all the time.

Well, that was kind of how I remembered it. The information came from Michael Kiser in the post game show.

Vanderbilt's big win today will probably get them in at 19-15. Never though I'd see a 15-loss team make the tournament.

We will if we win enough games to get selected.

Of course, that looks REALLY unlikely now. But it's still possible that we could earn a totally legitimate, deserved tourney berth with a string of enough BTT wins.

Why give up on the season before it's over, and we're so close to the end? I mean, Illinois wins two games in the BTT and you're telling me you won't be glued to the TV for the next one, hoping against hope that we win?

Highly probable that we get a #1 or #2 seed in the NIT with a win in the BTT. When we get to the NIT, it's no exaggeration to say that we're a clear threat to win it all. Remember: the NIT was once the most prestigious postseason tournament in all the land!

Ah, no we're not too inconsistent, welp maybe a miracle

We are projected as a 12 seed on the updated bracket matrix..... I know , I know. It's just what I saw.

Yeah I've looked around and somehow it seems we're not out. We just need some help. Off the top of my head about half of these teams would need to lose early in their conference tournament or their next tournament game:

Syracuse
Vandy
Michigan
Iowa
ISU
MSU
KSU
RI
Cal

And then no surprise bid stealers. All I can is it's march and crazy things happen. Buckle up and enjoy(?) the ride

Definitely agree. Should be an interesting week.

Well surprisingly Palm has Illinois as the first one out and Lunardi has them among the first four out. They both have been updated. So yes a couple of Big Ten tournament wins might be enough. If the combination is Michigan and Purdue that might be enough. It would add 2 quality wins, one of which would give the Illini their first signature win. I am not going to assign a probability of that happening but it shows that the NCAA is still a possibility.

Here's the deal:

To even have a remote possibility of making the first four in Dayton, we have to beat Purdue. This Illinois team may not even get the chance to play against Purdue, and surely won't beat them if they do.

Illinois will be hosting a game in the NIT, maybe two. That's what we can all look forward to, I guess.
