Dance Card still has Illinois as last team in. Beat Michigan and some others lose and your in. Beat Michigan and Purdue, you're in for sure.

That's what makes yesterday so frustrating, they win and they're in.

I think regardless of whether we win against Michigan and lose against PU or just lose to Michigan, we will find on selection Sunday that we were way further out than we originally thought. Maybe next 4 out or worse if we lose to Michigan.

Just a guess.

Iowa taking care of business like they actually want to go dancing.

Dance card projections are based on records as of today and do not account for future upsets in any way. If we really are their last team in, then we need there to be ZERO upsets where an "out" team steals a bid and the losing team then gets a wild card bid. I don't like the odds of that happening.

If Iowa wins, they get the seven seed and Michigan gets the eight seed. It does not matter if Michigan beats Nebraska.

WE need to root for Mich to win today. I want them comfortably in the tourney when we play them rather than a cornered animal playing for their tourney lives!

So we are officially 0-1 against teams in the tournament with Winthrop's win.

#1,010
Winthrop officially in as mentioned by Tygor. They finish 26-6 with an RPI in the 60s. Won't be viewed as a bad loss when NIT is determining seeds.

Mentioned in other posts, Palm has us first team out. Seth Davis actually agreed having Illinois up that high. Has Vandy and Syracuse behind us. Vandy because of all the losses and Syracuse because they have 2 wins away from home.

Truly blew it, I think we may have been in regardless of what happened in the BTT if we beat Rutgers

Bracket matrix updated and has us as first four out. It is sounding like 2 wins and in. Much easier said than done.

We are projected as a 12 seed on the updated bracket matrix..... I know , I know. It's just what I saw.

Now it's actually been updated, we are the 2nd team out. Still, if we beat Michigan we'd have 12 top 100 wins and only 1 bad loss. Still a chance, but I just wonder about our ability to actually win another game.

Frustrating, we were in pretty solid before this game. That's why I said earlier, if you beat Michigan, they should be in. This would be another top 50 win on a neutral court.

I would think that Illinois should be in if they beat Purdue.

The problem is that they will not beat Purdue. So, NIT bound.

As a fan, I find it hard to imagine a worse season than this. Playing poorly, and looking like we probably won't go dancing, then playing so horrible, it was obvious we weren't going to go dancing, then as the clock was about to tick off our last chances, just a tiny spark of hope, then winning game after game after game, and looking good, and clawing our way back onto the bubble....then with the season (again) on the line, against our weakest possible conference foe, taking care of business until a total collapse in the last 5 minutes. And this on the heals of a complete crapfest of a season (granted, lot of injuries), and the season before that, crap as well.

If there's a way to make fans more frustrated, I'm all ears.

I suppose you have to hold on and hope for a similar surge in the BTT. A couple wins could put us back on the bubble. Would be unsatisfying to back into the tournament, but better than missing.

Our history with must win games against Michigan isn't exactly on our side either. (Especially in the btt)

Beating them would probably knock them out of the top 50 though. :) Northwestern and MSU are right on that line, too.

Like I said above though, 12 top 100 wins would be pretty solid.

Unless we reach the BTT final game, it is hard for me to see a scenario where we make the tournament. If we factor in the usual few upsets, things will likely get tougher as we progress towards selection Sunday.

If the team reads all the "upbeat" comments around this board, then they are done and they won't win another game. I understand people's frustration with yesterday, but everyone needs to remember these are young men who are trying hard and may have just squeezed it too hard yesterday. That being said, they played pretty well for the last 7 games or so. They lost to a hot shooting PSU (about 56% I believe) and yesterday shooting the ball yesterday at a cool 36%. For those who truly believe, they did not "want to win" like Iowa today, I simply disagree. I also think it is likely they will get in with two wins. Can they win two? Yes. Would they essentially be in if they had won yesterday, pretty likely-but that option is gone. I believe they can win two if they shoot the ball well. But before they beat Purdue they have to beat Michigan. All the clichés are accurate, one game at a time. It simply does come down to making shots. The tournament is more enjoyable when Illinois is in it. I would take the play in game and take my chances. It all starts at 11:00 on Thursday morning.

We'd need some help to get there, so far not many other teams (and none ahead of us) have really stumbled.

ISU laying a major egg right now.

Not the worst thing in the world for Illinois. If the committee uses this game as the "eye test" - Illinois State will not be in the tournament, potentially opening up one more spot.

OK, I thought it was over after yesterday. Now I am hearing John Belushi, "Was it over, when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor?" I guess the full figured woman hasn't started singing yet, only warming up. I-L-L...
