I like your analysis, only thing I see is why would Kansas not go to Milwaukee as a 1 seed? That would seem to make just as much sense as Dallas? If that is the case I think we say hello to Buffalo or Pittsburg. I don’t believe the committee will have us above Wisconsin.

The loss yesterday did not cost us a 4, but I am really afraid it did cost us any chance at Indy/Milwaukee.
Dallas/Ft Worth is closer to KU than Milwaukee or Indy, and the fan base in the area is much more Kansas-familiar as well, so should help drive interest to the site.

Nerd alert: I made this spreadsheet a few weeks ago when I was considering pulling the trigger on buying Milwaukee tickets. At the time, I thought it looked like a near lock that Illinois would go to Milwaukee. Glad I didn't buy 'em because Pittsburgh/Buffalo looks entirely possible now. Updated it a few minutes ago to reflect today's Bracket Matrix.

Ultimately, where Illinois goes depends on what the committee thinks of a) Purdue vs. Tennessee and b) Illinois vs. Wisconsin vs. Arkansas. If the seeding were done according to today's matrix, Arkansas would get sent to Buffalo. Of course, we'll find out in less than 24 hours, lol.

I hear it's pretty in early spring, and pru doesn't even have to cross the border to score some 420.

Winner of the MAC is Akron. Omg they would just love to match us up, Groce against old school. I bet you $100 bucks they’ll try to.
A good half of the potential matchups for Illinois in the 1st or 2nd round could be read into for special meaning. In this case, though, if Illinois is a 4 seed in Milwaukee, and Akron is a 13 seed, there is a very good chance they are matched up since Milwaukee wouldn't be far for them to travel.

What if I told you the team we want no part of until final four is ARIZONA

THEY ARE BEST TEAM IN COUNTRY RIGHT NOW!!
But they have lost to Colorado, and to UCLA by 16 points each. Like all the teams, they don't always bring the A game. I agree they look like the strongest now, but any team can stumble.

I would say you're probably right, Deep. But we know them, we feel like we should have beat them, we are better now (I think)), and they probably won't have Kerr Kriisa. Plus they cannot dance like us.

Well, Gonzaga.

But solid argument for #2, for sure.

Kansas #3.

As far as teams that have been super hot the past few weeks that aren't lined up to be #1 seeds that could be a scary matchup next week: Tennessee, Villanova, Arkansas, Creighton, Murray State.

Yeah but both have 3 losses and Arizona played in a much tougher conference.

One last word on Illinois' best and worst case scenarios:

Best case: 3 seed in Milwaukee with a 14 Jacksonville State matchup, and LSU as the #6.with Miami as the 11.

Worst case: 5 seed in Buffalo with UCLA as the 4 and Murray State as an underseeded 12.

Ehhhh...the conference quality is much more similar than you may think. Could be argued that the Pac 12 has the worst team of any in either conference, and the WCC could have more tournament teams.

To me the only team that really scares me is Arizona

Give me gonzaga, Kansas, Baylor, Kentucky

I hear you. Oregon State and Pepperdine are both bad. That being said road trips and even home games vs the Pac 12 are much more difficult than the WCC. Plus more conference games.

More conference games does not inherently make a stronger schedule…

Well. Maybe in Arizona’s case because they played pretty much just us in non conference. Gonzaga on the other hand, uses the short conference schedule to play Texas, duke, Texas tech, oh and UCLA who they beat by 20…

I’m not sure who’s better, but no reason to suggest Arizona is better because they have more conference games when that means more games against Oregon state (among other teams). Trading a game against Pepperdine for a game against texas tech sounds like a much more challenging schedule.

Arizona lost 3 games. All on the road. Against Tennessee, UCLA and Colorado. Gonzaga lost to Duke, Alabama and St. Mary’s. Seems similar. IMO going 18-2 in the PAC 12 is better than 13-1 in the WCC. Also Arizona just looks like a better team.

If we could draw Akron in the first round and have Kansas as the 1 seed and Auburn as the 2 that would be amaaaaaazing!

Lunardi's update today has us as the 4 seed in the East playing Princeton in the 1st round in Milwaukee. 5/12 matchup is LSU vs. Notre Dame/Wyoming winner.

Palm also has us as 4 seed in the East playing Vermont in the 1st round in Buffalo. 5/12 matchup is UConn vs. UAB.

So Alabama is worse than Colorado?

Do quality wins not matter anymore either?
