I am genuinely asking...does this team make the tournament if they lose out?

That would be 19-12. I think the bubble is pretty weak this year, but I don't think it could be a lock? 3-9 against Q1 is really bad.

That is good then. I'd still really like to beat Michigan :)
Agreed. We're as likely to beat a 1 seed as a 2 seed, with regards to the 8/9 vs. 7/10 game. I put that at about 3%, given the way we shoot from deep (and continue to try).

One thing that makes Illinois a lock more or less for the ncaa tourney is they are the only big10 team with 5 wins against top 25 opponents. I still want them to win out but I am confident we are in no matter what.

Are we confident that if we lose these next 2 games and flame out in the first game of BTT( a very real possibility) that we will even get into the NCAA tournament? We could be finishing 10th in the big 10.
I don't really care about seeding in the NCAA other than not being seeded 8 or 9 where we'd likely have to play a 1 seed if we managed to win the first game because we are capable of beating almost everyone but haven't shown since November that it is likely to happen.

We could lose out and we will still make it (which won't happen). But yes, this regular season has been very disappointing. We are an 8 seed right now which sucks, and we need to do everything we can to get back to the 7 line

This team has proven that it very well could happen.

Luckily, we’ve done enough to get in, even if losing out puts us near the bubble.

If Illini loses next 2 games and exists on the first BTT game (worst case), will we still make it to the NCAA tournament with a 19-13 resume?

I think that we'd make it even with a complete collapse (finishing 19-13), but Selection Sunday wouldn't be overly comfortable.
I'm thinking the same thing. In this scenario, probably have to root for all the favorites to win so that we don't have unexpected schools winning their conference tournaments and taking the last few bids that way and for teams currently just outside of the bubble not to go on a winning streak. The 20th win gives some breathing room, especially with avoiding the play-in game.

I'll just say this, after the last two tourneys and this years schizophrenic squad.....no matter what seed we get.... we will be the darling picks to be upset.
Well if we get a 9 seed or worse, we won't have to worry about being a darling pick to be upset in brackets ;)

This team might play better being a seed underdog...who really knows at this point.

I'm kinda ok with being the underdog in the tourney. Being the favorite has not worked out that well.

But in all seriousness, we likely secured our spot with the comeback win Thursday. It would still be disheartening to drop the next three though.

Well Lunardi had us as a 7 earlier so I guess he overestimated us as well. This fan base is going to lose their mind if we get an 8/9 seed.
If we get and 8/9 seed, that means we made the tournament without having to sweat it. The latter part of that prophecy is almost certainly true. Would anyone here really want to switch places with Michigan or Wisconsin? 'Cause I wouldn't...

...or to make the upset... ILL!

Remember it wasn’t that long ago that we hadn’t made a tournament in forever. I’m thankful this team is solidly in the tournament year in and year out. Obviously want more, and the season had been frustrating, but in the big picture still a good team compared to the grove years.
