CFB Coaching Carousel 2016-17

He is probably going to want to manage his ice cream shop in town...but what will he do during the winters? I hear that the head coach of the football team knows him. No idea if there is any truth to it.

This situation has not been handled well at all. That University, heck, that state is quite a mess at the moment.

I'm sure they think they can land Tom Herman, but can they?

They aren't getting Herman. They won't get Fisher either. Briles still needs some time to get the stink off him, but then again it is the SEC

Where will Les end up at?
Some Power 5 school will hire him as their head coach before the start of next season, right?

Any chance he goes to the NFL as a head coach or coordinator?

I imagine any head CFB job he wants. His offenses have stalled so I don't see him getting an NFL OC job, but maybe.

Please not Purdue.

My guess would be him stepping right back into a Power Five job. Though, he's not in THAT different of a position that Phil Fulmer or Mack Brown were, and neither of those guys have coached again. We'll see.

Winningest coach in their history is history.

This seems really short-sighted to me. He's being crucified because why? LSU fans mistakenly thought Wiscy wasn't that good, and his QB made a fraction of a second error getting off a TD play. I could see a lot of scenarios where they regret this. As long as Saban's at bama, the odds of LSU (or anyone else in the SEC) getting to the NC is already pretty low. You think another coach is gonna waltz in and take Saban's spot in the CFP?

Time will tell, but this one strikes me as over-entitled fans having a tantrum.

Aren't most coach firings?

Unless there's moral/legal issues at stake, most coaches seem to get fired because of this reason.

USC or Penn State could be options for Miles

I think you're overestimating how much a coach like that loses his appeal to big time jobs when he fails at another big time job.

What Les Miles offers is credibility. Programs like Penn State and USC already have credibility because they're Penn State and USC. They don't need a known commodity as a coach because those jobs MAKE a coach a known commodity. What they need is energy, ideas, innovation, excitement, etc. That's not what Les Miles is offering. Miles gets more appealing relative to the same other options the more down on their luck a program is, if that makes sense.

Hasn't it been a bit for both of those programs? When was the last time PSU was relevant? I agree he's not a good coach for either of those programs. As much as I don't want to see it, I feel he'd be interesting to see at Purdue...

An awful lot of programs would love to fail at a Les Miles level. I generally agree with your 2nd paragraph, but I could see ND dump Kelly at the end of the season (or sooner) to pick up Miles.

Do people really think Miles failed?
