you know, I like that game today. Played well late. We can take a lower draft pick. with this coaching staff, they can make it work. I really like Fox.

We would actually be a good team if we were healthy.

Agreed. I'll repeat what I've already said. With Cutler we hung with the Packers, and would've hung with the Cardinals and Seahawks. With Cutler and Alshon, we are probably 4-1 or 3-2. He stills makes that one stupid mistake each game though. But that first TD throw he made today is about as good a throw you'll see all year.

So, IF the Bears win against Detroit, and get back to .500, then what? Bye week followed by 10 games, most of which are "winnable". Of course, all are "losable":)

I think we could get to 9 wins if we can get healthy and stay healthy. 9 wins is the ceiling for this team IMO and would be a successful first year for Fox.

I think we're starting to see the benefits of a competent coaching staff. I think I've said up thread that the talent level between a 4-12 team and a 7-9 team in the NFL really isn't that great.

Saying a team has a floor or ceiling is stupid imo, just a pet peave of mine. Every team is capable of winning every game. I think if the bears get healthy then they have a shot at every game.

Lol NFL rules are made up on the fly. The ref sat there watching the play and didn't throw a flag until Stafford was halfway through his complaint.

I agree. I tweeted that out at the time to my five followers :D that ref should be fired. Flag was way too late for an honest call. He was not reaching for it as if he couldn't get the flag out. Heck I even think he was looking down field

Walt Coleman also should be suspended for not overruling him. Weak call, cheap call, brutal call

Fox's ultra-conservative offensive philosophy bit us in the fourth quarter. Third and 4, run a play-action short pass to the flat, something safe, to try to get the first down and then run out the clock. Show some machismo instead of playing not to lose.

I knew he wouldn't, but I thought going for it on 4th and 6 inches could have sealed the game with 2:30 left. Well, at least this helps the draft position.:D

Enjoyed the game yesterday, I don't know if the Bears are any good, or if the Rams just had a bad day. It was fun to have a comfortable victory.

That was fun. It was a rare, for my neighborhood, Sunday first game on network TV so it was particularly well received. Especially nice with the Illini win playing at (nearly) the same time.

Like I said upthread, I think we're seeing the difference a good coaching staff can make, especially when replacing a really bad one. Just the fact that the defensive players are in a position to make plays this year shows you how much of the defensive problems of the last couple years are on the coaches versus the players.

We're also seeing Jay Cutler with an actual offensive coordinator, playing in an offense that actually suits his strengths. I know it's popular to say that Cutler got his previous OCs fired, but I don't exactly see Ron Turner, Mike Martz, Mike Tice, or Marc Tressman ripping up the league with another team. Flacco with the Ravens is doing a pretty good 2014 Jay Cutler impression with Tressman as his QB coach.

I would love to have this coaching staff stay in tact for 3 years. Chicago radio is assuming the Gase will be interviewing for HC positions again. Honestly, I am more impressed with Fangio. The offense has some talent. The defense, it has to be smoke and mirrors.

The Bears have 10 or 11 more or less interchangeable guys in the front seven. None are Pro Bowlers, but none suck out loud. They know where they're supposed to be, and they follow their assignments. Their mistakes are usually those of simply not having enough talent rather than not knowing what they're doing.

The secondary, since Porter and Rolle got healthy, and since Callahan took the nickel spot from McManis, has actually been really good. Amos and Fuller could be the real deal.

Exactly. Who would have ever thought that the secondary would be the strength of this defense after awful they looked in the first few weeks of the season? Even Shea McClellin has looked alright the past couple weeks.

Next couple of games are gonna be interesting hosting Denver and playing at Green Bay within a 4 day stretch. No Peyton for Denver will certainly help but the Bears offense vs. that tough Broncos D I think is gonna be the more interesting storyline.
