Theo should have gotten the Corvette.

Been a fan since before Kennedy was shot. Would sit and watch games with my grandpa after his stroke. He always chuckled when they did something goofy. I hope he's as euphoric as I am. Just an incredible feeling, even the morning.

BTW, Ithink it was a Camero...

Here are two previous teams that should have made it to the series, so grateful that this team got the job done!

When the game ended, I surprisingly started crying and didn't stop for a good 10 minutes.

Most epic, draining, exhausting, frustrating, exhilarating, wonderful sports moment of my lifetime.

I was prepared to do the same, as I teared up a bit after the final LCS win. However, the game was so exhausting I had nothing left when it was over.

I'm not sure what happened, but right after the game ended last night it started raining. I live in Phoenix. We were not expecting rain. Then I heard thunder. Then the winds came and knocked over all my patio chairs. I thought, "Oh no. Must be the apocalypse coming!". Then, somebody shot off a gun in my neighborhood. I thought, "Oh great. Now the crazies are loose." I reluctantly went to sleep after much trouble with the thoughts of "Did that really happen?" stuck in my head. The lightning, thunder, and high winds went on all last night.

This morning I woke up and looked outside. It was the most beautiful sunrise, with shades of red and Cubby blue. The air smelled a little bit sweeter. The world felt a little bit lighter, as if the weight of a century-plus long curse had been lifted. It was like in a movie when the evil thing in the universe gets defeated and all the blackness dissipates and the world goes back into the light. November 2, 2016 will be remembered forever with great fondness by those who believed for so long, knew unrelenting dissappointment, but still held onto hope when everything seemed hopeless. It's the dawn of a new day. A day where the Cubs are no longer the punchline of jokes, are no longer "the lovable losers", and where there is no "Wait till next year!".

Next year is here.

I woke up not sure if it was all real. My wife felt the same way. We thought maybe we dreamed it.

That's how I felt, too. A little disorienting at first, but started to feel pretty great again after waking up a bit!

I keep playing videos of it and watching celebrations. We will always remember where we were when the Cubbies brought it home!

I'm still shocked they did it. I would have bet everything that they couldn't come back from 3-1. They proved me wrong.

Yes, I have been a Cubs fan for a long time!

My grandma put a Cubs Power t-shirt on me when I was 4. I even have a vinyl they cut that year - "Hey, Hey, holy mackerel, no doubt about it . . ". The Cubs are World Series champs!

The construction of this juggernaut was the most fun experience I have ever had as a sports fan.

Honestly, as I reflect back today, most of my favorite experiences happened before the MLB team on the field was even good. Which is a little strange and depressing if you think about it in a certain way, but today is not that day. :thumb:

On behalf of Cardinal Nation, I would like to say congrats to the Cubs and their fans. Looking forward to the rivalry for the next few years. It should be fun to watch.

Hoping all of us as Illini fans will get to experience this feeling 5-10 years down the road when Groce leads the basketball team to a title. :hailtotheorange:

The best part of this was watching the games with my 10-year old son.

I've been taking him to games since he was four or five, roughly contiguous with the Theo era. I've gotten to see his love of baseball develops. And now I know his Cubs experience is going to be completely different from my Cubs experience.

Thanks man! Very gracious.

And oh boy, if the Illini won a national title, that would definitely surpass last night for me.

Glad that my 70 year old Godfather who introduced me to the Cubs and took me to my first games lived long enough to see this. Growing up still remember all the old ladies who would listen to the game on radios. Those of the folks I"m most happiest for.

Just think... THIS YEAR, this year was supposed to be year 1 of the resurgence! They already accomplished their ultimate goal in year 1 of expectations. There is another, what... 5+ years minimum to expect the Cubs will be a year in, year out contender with this roster. Who knows what can be accomplished now that the monkey is off their back???

I still can't believe it happened. We won the WORLD SERIES!!!!!! :D:D:D

Age and the last season before each player becomes a free agent...

Likely 2017 starting lineup with no trades or other acquisitions:

C: Contreras, 24, 2022
1B: Rizzo, 27, 2021
2B: Baez, 23, 2021
SS: Russell, 22, 2021
3B: Bryant, 24, 2021
LF: Schwarber, 23, 2021
CF: Heyward, 27, 2018 (Can opt out after 2018 or 2019 then under contract until 2023)
RF: Zobrist, 35, 2019

Almora (22, 2022) and Soler (24, 2020) are on the bench and could be eventual options to step in for Heyward and Zobrist. You also have Eloy Jimenez, 19 and possibly the top corner outfield prospect in the game, making his Major League debut in 2018, if not sooner.

There will be more churn in the pitching staff, but the excellent years from Lester (signed through 2020), Hendricks (2020), and Montgomery (2021) give the Cubs an excellent base to work with after Arrieta, Lackey, etc. become free agents after 2017.

Ian Happ is "Zobrist" lite. Jiminez had a breakout year last year. Lots of pitchers in the top 50 prospect list so it will be interesting to see how many of those guys make it. Plenty of depth in the minors even after the trades of Torres, McKinney and Vogelbach.

Happ is another one that could be ready come 2018. Although given what's already on the MLB roster, he, Candelario and Soler look like prime trade candidates if the Cubs decide they want to put a package together for a young MLB-ready starting pitcher.

It still hasn't sunk in. Called my grandpa last night, and he was choking up; it just doesn't seem like it can be real, I've dreamt about this for my whole life, so it doesn't seem like it could be anything but a dream!

But it is real. :) GO CUBS GO
