Further news? The last I heard is that he's still undergoing treatment. Has there been regression?Very sad news about Sandberg’s battle with cancer. He was my favorite Cub during the 1980’s. Steady, dependable.
Nothing concrete but Lester yesterday and Hoyer today specifically mentioned him and he went on Instagram 4 days ago to say he is prioritizing spending time with family and friends.Further news? The last I heard is that he's still undergoing treatment. Has there been regression?
Sounds like he’s had a riough few months. Cancer came back in multiple organs but he’s still being treated.Further news? The last I heard is that he's still undergoing treatment. Has there been regression?
what I read Friday is the cancer has spread to multiple other organs . His outlook is very grimm and he has seemed to accept his fate . Short of a miracle , and they do happen , it’s likely not a situation he can recover from .Further news? The last I heard is that he's still undergoing treatment. Has there been regression?
Assad will be back in AugustGiven the market, if I'm the Cubs, forget trading for a third baseman. Let Shaw do his thing.
They're clearly going to need bench help in the infield and outfield. Can't survive an entire season with Turner, Brujan and Berti being your only options. In the outfield, they're version of giving a guy the day off is making him the DH. That's where being cheap comes into play.
Then, they need to find another arm or two in the pen. Outside of Theilbar, Keller and Palencia....the rest is questionable.....and that's being kind.
There just aren't enough quality starters on the market. At least, nobody worth giving up a top prospect for. Get Taillon back, get into the playoffs and see what happens.
I’m going to assume when you say another arm or two, you mean quality, dependable RPs. Those don’t come particularly cheap at this time of the year either. Here’s a list of the relievers that were traded at 2024 deadline, and I wouldn’t consider all of these quality or dependable. For instance, Leiter was merely OK with Cubs and then terrible with NYY — 4.98 ERA, 1.71 WHIP.Given the market, if I'm the Cubs, forget trading for a third baseman. Let Shaw do his thing.

Mariners are smoking hot too. This series should be interesting.I guess the Brewers are done losing this year.
Maybe we should trade Counsel for the Brewers manager, who seems to make better decisions than the highest-paid manager.I guess the Brewers are done losing this year.
