@Indy Illini Fan @illini0440 I was having a chat yesterday with a couple of guys I know who live in Bloomington IN... They are big Hoosier crazies but they told me the rumors they are hearing is that Woodson is safe for another year do to his buy out.. They also mentioned the idea that people there want Holtmann. They are wondering if the school would sign Holtmann as an assistant to bb operations to let woodson know he is done hoping he resigns.

Holtmann is not taking a job at IU ...

I don't know if Woodson gets fired or not ... I think they could tell him he needs to step down ...

Getting blasted by Nebraska at home ... Fans are showing up more for the WBB team than MBB ... IU won't be able to take that for long ...

They think they are a blue blood still somehow ... They aren't ...

What's happening with Moser at OK? I thought he wanted out. No takers? lol

not that it could never be done again in this age , but there is a “silent gentlemen's agreement” in the B1G , since the early 1960’s, to not directly poach coaches from revenue sports from fellow members . it’s a good agreement to have . We aren’t the SEC
I think the days of B10 "gentleman's agreements" went flying out the window with the billion dollar TV contracts for football and basketball. Not only do the coaches move but they take their players with them as well - see USC Riley and AA recruit and future NFL qb Caleb Williams. Deon at Colorado.

He's got to figure out that buyout first ...
I think he will wind up going somewhere ... I just don't know where yet ... Could be Ohio State if they miss on their top targets ...
Moser is 18-8 6-7 this season. Its his best season yet. He does not have to jump. Other than his Final 4 season at Loyola his avg record is 16-14. He has made NCAA twice in 19 years (including the final 4 year). No way Buckeyes want him. His contract pays him $16.8M over 6 years (this is year 3). Based his mediocre performance I doubt he walks away from remaining $8.4M ($2.8M/year).

No public salary for fired DePaul Stubblefield but his predecessor Dave Leitao made $1.3M per year. I can't see Moser taking a 50% paycut to take over the garbage dumpster of DePaul program.

I hope this is true.. lol.

I tend to agree with this ... Although there will be many who say it's Ohio State without a doubt ...

Creighton fans are nuts, that place is packed every single night ... Nice facilities ... Great resources ...

Ohio State is a mid tier and arguably low tier Big Ten job ... Creighton is a top tier Big East job ...
Not sure I agree. What has Creighton ever accomplished? Dana Altman, for all his success 0 Sweet 16s. McDermott, for all his success, 1 Sweet 16, 1 Elite 8 and that was in lasts years crazy tourney. Ohio State on the other hand, Matta alone had 2 Sweet 16s, an Elite 8, a Final 4, and a Runner-up.

The ceiling is much higher at Ohio State. You just need the right coach. Never gonna win over the fanbase away from football, but success is very easily attainable if you're a good coach.

Which coach has transferred between Big 10 schools in the last 60 years?

My predictions so far:

Ohio State: Greg McDermott

Indiana: Dusty May

Michigan: Wes Miller

Memphis: Will Wade

Vanderbilt: Chris Mack

Louisville: Lamont Paris

Washington: Mark Pope

Oklahoma State: Darrian Devries

Stanford: Joe Pasternack

Oregon State: Danny Sprinkle

Arizona State: Eric Musselman

DePaul: Bobby Hurley
Damn I feel like Muss going to ASU would be a coup for them.

I would think Muss would have to at least be on the radar for all the major openings. Though I guess I'm not aware of what has gone on down there this year.

Arizona State has no history of basketball success. They compete with Suns for Phx fans attention. They have barely made NCAA 10 times in past 44 years. Hurley 3x in past 7 years as play in game. I don't think it is a desirable landing spot for any current P4 coach. Makes Illinois look an blue blood.

Musselman can do much better with his NBA pedigree and success at Nevada and Arkansas. This is his first bad season 9 years of college coaching

The ceiling was much higher in pre-NIL days ... Totally agree ... They got lucky getting Oden and Conley and those guys ...

Now ... Things are different ...

If I asked around ... I think there would be a lot more coaches saying they'd take Creighton over Ohio State if given the choice ...

Ohio State is bottom 5 in the Big Ten in NIL and adding the Pac-12 schools doesn't make them move up ...

What would you say is the view of the top tier of jobs in the Big Ten? Different era these days with the portal and NIL....

If I was gonna rank the tiers ... And I'll throw in the pac 12 schools ... Think Ohio State is right in between Tier 3 and Tier 4 ... Same with Rutgers ...

Tier 1: UCLA, Michigan State, Illinois

Tier 2: Indiana, Maryland, Purdue, Oregon

Tier 3: Iowa, USC, Rutgers, Washington, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio State

Tier 4: Nebraska, Minnesota

Tier 5: Penn State, Northwestern

Really? Has Underwood resurrected it that much? Hope so but it’s hard not to feel this is inflated when Weber and Groce were the best we could do and we seemed to be passed on by target candidates for two cycles.

Indiana is 3-7 in last ten games
they won’t likely change their trajectory

I can’t see how Woodson survives

Exactly what would Ohio State bring to the table that's different from Oklahoma?

If Moser is miserable at Oklahoma, I don't see why he'd be any happier at Ohio State.

Geography.... living in Oklahoma isn't the best even with that kind of income. Columbus is a great city. He wants back in the Midwest from what I have read.

Archie Miller won 20 games or more only 1 time in 4 seasons at Indiana. He never finished better than 6th in conference and never made the tournament.

Woodson came in and won 21 and 23 games in his first two seasons, finishing 2nd in conference last year. He's made the tournament in each of his first 2 years and won a game last year. If 1 down year, after losing 2 starters to the NBA and 2 more to graduation and starter to transfer gets you fired, that is an awfully short leash. Also, he lost his starting PG to injury.

Now maybe Indiana is looking to just spend some cash and bring in an elite coach, but still Woodson does not deserve to be fired in my mind.

I've heard that as well, but isn't part of the issue with Moser that he doesn't like the big conference, public school environment?

I agree about Columbus, and if Moser's only big issue at OU is he hates living outside of the Midwest then OSU would be good. But I thought he wanted to get back to a smaller, private school closer to what Loyola is like. For example, if McDermott would leave Creighton I could easily see Moser taking the Creighton job if Omaha is "Midwest enough" for him.
