He might have been able to survive EITHER the declining results OR the issues around the NIL lawsuit, but both together pretty much made this one a fait accompli for this season. I agree. And the question you have raised is: why?Did not realize he is all of 76. And he really needs this job at this stage of his life?

Being only a year older, it is very difficult for me to imagine a good reason he would want to continue other than he really enjoys influencing the lives of young men.Did not realize he is all of 76. And he really needs this job at this stage of his life?
Most of the time it’s because it’s all they know. Their lives have been consumed by it for well in this case 45+ years…..they don’t know what to do with themselves if they retire.Being only a year older, it is very difficult for me to imagine a good reason he would want to continue other than he really enjoys influencing the lives of young men.
I have to imagine competitiveness plays a role too. I mean, these guys have spent their entire lives in competition. Hamilton has achieved so much but some of the loftiest goals, like Final Fours and National Championships were just out of his reach. Just 7 years ago he was in the Elite Eight. So close. And to top it all off, in 2019-20, possibly the best team he's ever coached, the Tourney gets cancelled due to Covid. That's got to just eat at him, and I'm sure there's a belief he can still do it, and impulse to keep chasing after it.Most of the time it’s because it’s all they know. So it’ll take a strong-@&& offer to get him to your school? Will Wade is a name and he will be for pretty much every major job
Bobby Knight took to fishing and still maintained being an arse. Most of the time it’s because it’s all they know. Their lives have been consumed by it for well in this case 45+ years…..they don’t know what to do with themselves if they retire.

I know the familiarity but is FSU really an upgrade over Mizzou for Gates?Dennis Gates and Charlton Young are names ...
Will Wade is a name and he will be for pretty much every major job ... Chris Mack will get a call ... Bucky McMillan is a guy they'll at least reach out on ...
They really seem to like Luke Loucks ...
Crappie coach by the end of his tenure.A…basshole?

Just got done reading about 6 articles on the FSU coaching search. Gates has a $15M buyout which would be a problem, but most of the articles think he wouldn't leave Mizzou anyway. The article by the Sports Illustrated writer was the most comprehensive and he picked his top 3 as young college head coaches, Takayo Siddle, Bucky McMillan and Alan Huss. He does say he thinks that Luke Loucks is at the top of the list.I have a different thought here than other people but the ACC is going to change … You’ve got Scheyer at Duke and Pat Kelsey at Louisville but who else ? Hubert ain’t gonna be at Carolina much longer when they’re playing like this …
There’s an opportunity here for one of these other teams to push for that 3rd spot … I think FSU could easily … Hamilton had that thing rolling for a while there …
Dennis very well connected and very will liked down there … But do I see him leaving Mizzou ? No, I don’t …
If it was me … I’d make Will Wade an offer he can’t refuse and that’s for any job in America … And for FSU, if Wade tells me no … My next call is Chris Mack …
Or possibly a bass turd.A…basshole?
He left Indiana just for the halibut.A…basshole?
You gotta admit…at one time Knight was the reel deal…a reel, basketball brain-sturgeon! But somewhere along the line it all went to his head…and he started to think he was Cod. I remember when Davis came in…he had success of course…but it always seemed like a bit of a fluke to me.Knight put his heart and sole into IU but in the end he floundered.
