I believe it’s more his “scream in your face, insult your family, break you down “ mentality. If you think I am making this up, I am not. I know firsthand from players and players’ families. He has mellowed a bit but still, that’s BU.
Consistent with Klee's reporting on the podcast that was posted yesterday https://www.news-gazette.com/wdws/ on what broke KJ. The team looks broken down right now.

Bingo … We need 3 new assistants …

My problem is that Brad doesn’t see anything wrong with the coaching right now !!!! I have ZERO confidence in his ability to listen to other coaches … He thinks Tyler is some sort of genius and Hamer is a defensive guru when he suggests we dork 50+% 3 point shooters …

He’s sort of like Muss … Constant staff turnover and people who really would prefer to not work for him …
You can't be serious that Brad still thinks the staff is fine? I mean, based on his post game interviews, I guess what you're saying is being confirmed. Almost everything Brad is saying puts the blame on the players for not executing and almost nothing about how inept the coaching has been.

Players obviously have to play but this coaching staff has done an abysmal job at putting players in positions to succeed

You to your last point-I've repeated this frustration throughout Underwood's time here- his teams rarely seem like "family"- I don't hardly ever get the feeling that his players want to run through a wall for him. Admittedly, this isn't always a guarantee of success- Groce's teams seemed to play hard for him often but the talent was missing.

There have been moments of "running through walls"/ Players playing like warriors (see Williams, Frazier, Feliz, etc...) but I think that had far more to do with their personalities than them "running through walls for Underwood"

Last 2 games against real title contenders we gave up a 30-0 run and lost by 40. I’m not ready to give up on Brad but his ceiling seems to be just under truly elite

Quite frankly. I wish Whitman would tell Brad and any other coach you can't hire your family on your staff. No other power 5 school would hire Tyler with so little experience. It exist in so many fields and should not be allowed. Tyler should pay his dues elsewhere first. Unless you own your business so often you can't hire family.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Who is generating a better ROI on NIL...Underwood or Bielema? It is not even remotely close.

With Underwood on the bench, we spot everyone we play a 10-point lead. He generally can overcome that due to a huge talent advantage...but not this year.

I would almost rather see Weber get the most out of marginal talent than Underwood waste the talent he buys.

Has there ever been an NCAA coach with TWO Round 1 NBA players who failed to make the tourney?
uhhh... Rutgers THIS year??

It's just absolutely striking how quickly we went from the rise to Final four contender in December to trending in a direction that could cause us to miss the tournament in a little over a month. Absolutely astounding. That's not something that can be blamed solely on illness, but it also feels like a stretch to say it's purely on BU, either. After all, it's still the same players, staff, and approach that were absolutely blitzing high-level teams two months ago and drawing comparison to the '89 team. Recall, that actually was still this same season.

The more I think about it, the less I understand just what the heck is happening with our team and program. It defies all logic.

This season has very much pushed me into the "Brad skeptic" camp. I'd be fine with him staying if he can stop the bleeding and make some meaningful staff changes. But if not... oof.

Isn’t the goal here to win a national title?
I want to hear from someone what they have seen to make them believe this “coach” is the guy who can do that.

The loss to Loyola should’ve made people question a few things. The nepotism hiring should have answered some of those questions. The staff and player departures of the last few years should have answered the rest. Hubris explains a lot.

We waited years too long to replace the two previous coaches. Let’s not make that mistake again.
My thoughts exactly. IL only real goal long term is to win a title. Once it becomes clear the guy in charge can’t do that it’s time to move on. From Bruce that was like 2008. For groce it was his 3rd year. And of course they both got multiple years after that.

Steve Pikiell this year …

and the worst part with Loyola is it was one of the most uninspired performances by a 1 seed maybe ever. Moser pantsed underwood in that game. I was walking g my dog with 10 minutes left cause it was over. It’s one thing to lose a heartbreaker but they were never really in the game. Thats inexcusable in a 1/8 game against a mid major.

if michigan admissions takes shannon then brad doesnt even have a job here still. we lost that recruit to juwan howard and juwan probably still coaches at michigan.

I still don't want Beard. If I can't defend myself from my wife without beating the hell out of her, I don't belong in a leadership position, especially as a leader of young men.
I watched Knight pulling that crap and I won't watch an Illini coach that I know is the same type.
I think you are spot on, and I will add that I just cannot envision Josh Whitman hiring him based on those allegations and police reports. I don't really care that the charges got dismissed. There are other options, and Whitman would find someone else rather than deal with the blow-back from administration and some fans.

Heck, I think I have finally reached the point where I would take certified cheater Will Wade, though. Cheating is pretty much legal now and he's still winning at a ridiculously high clip, unlike Sean Miller... After Wade's 25-5 season at LSU, his final three years there were mediocre even though they made the tournament, but I have to think the investigation hanging over the program was the reason for that.

But I'm not sure I could see Whitman hiring Wade, either.

Who could have imagined that IOWA would be the game circled as the biggest game of the year. Most would have thought it might have been the clinching game to win the BIG10 and not the game to save NCAA Tournament hopes and possibly BU job. Unreal

when he paid players they went 25-5 and was 15-2 in the SEC. Anyone who doesnt want will wade in the NIL era is lacking mentally.

This could be a long term payback for them taking Mackovic all those years ago which led to the demise of football for the better part of 3 decades pre Bert

Ok, fair. They had a good run. But what about consistently?

From Wikipedia:

"After four years of near .500 seasons and five years without an NCAA Tournament appearance, Romar recruited his long-time friend Michael Porter Sr. to join the Huskies as an assistant coach in 2016.[5] Michael Porter Sr. was expected to bring his two sons, Michael Porter Jr. and Jontay Porter, as commits to Washington. Michael Porter Jr. was widely considered the No. 1 recruit in the 2017 class.[6] However, on March 15, 2017, following a dismal 9–22 season with future #1 pick Markelle Fultz leading the team, Romar was fired as head coach at Washington after 15 years."

The Porters ended up at Mizzou (Michael was drafted after one year).

Fultz and Porter never played together so I'd guess that Romar never had 2 or 3 get drafted?
