If anyone ever thought outbidding Kentucky would keep Antigua, Loyalty is crazier than I originally thought. He has the ability to roam like a free range chicken there. I'm not sure what kind of car is provided at Illinois, but I guarantee he and his family get high end luxury cars at UK. Country Club is probable at both places. Housing?

The difference is in the fringe benefits most of the time.

I know Lovie was given the right to use a Chevy Impala about 5 years ago...a Chevy Impala!! Fancy Schmancy!
Yeah but maybe it came with police privileges

It seems a real stretch to claim we will be a better team next year after losing a likely first round NBA pick.
Ayo is a major loss, but we beat an Elite Eight team on the road without him. Seniors back, additions of Payne/Plummer/freshmen, and hope Curbelo takes next step and Kofi returns (likely better). If Hutch is half as good as the reports, we will be just fine. Maybe we aren't as good, but I don't think its a stretch. We will have incredible depth.

When Tony Yates took the Cincinnati job, there were a lot of people who thought Lou Henson was in trouble. Yates's replacement, Jimmy Collins, did all right.

Granted, O. A. is a unique asset.

With Carribean connection gone I hope they get someone with good standing with the Chicago area coaches. Year in and year out we need Chicago kids to sustain the improvements.

Did OA really help other "big men" besides Kofi. Did Georgi improve from his freshman to junior year?
What about the other "big men" on the team? Most posters are pointing to how he helped Kofi to
develop. Whose to say that another assistant could not have done the same. Certainly he helped recruit
players to Illinois but how did he do recruiting at the schools where he was the head coach? I think that
Illinois now has a system and staff that can attract players. I trust Underwood to find an assistant who fits
what he wants just like he does the athletes.

I think Antigua's departure makes a difference. It's been reported that Giorgi was a close friend, and Antigua something of a mentor. The loss of both has to make another year in C-U less attractive to Kofi. The NBA might be as long a shot next year as this year, but Kofi's an international player, and playing internationally could look just fine to him.
Kofi staying another year walks out the door as soon as Antigua leaves
