I thought Walker's demotion was a bit of punishment that opened the door for Gentry to walk into. Was he actually just moved aside to make room for Gentry?
I've talked with coach Walker a few times, fine coach and great example for the University.....I think BU was just getting his coaches in place.

Maybe they aren't happy that, after Walker's ouster, Gentry is occupying a recruiting role despite not doing much recruiting. That forces OA and CC to do the work of three people on the recruiting trail.
Maybe gentry can be an associate head coach of some sort

If Antigua and Coleman leave it will be a disappointment for sure, but I believe in Brad Underwood and Josh Whitman to keep this thing going. It would certainly be a bump in the road but these guys are serious about putting the Illini back on the map. If these guys go to Kentucky look for quick and impressive hires to replace. We haven’t reached cruising altitude yet and these guys will get us there.

I don't think that is what will happen. ORLANDO has brought in some big time players. His integrity and coaching skills and knowledge is respected highly of BRAD UNDERWOOD AND the rest of ILLINOIS NATION. He will realize that he left Kentucky for more than one reason, the attachment to the history and the current culture that he helped with is greater for him and his family will be forever loved ❤️♥️♥️♥️♥️ CHICAGO TO 🙏🙏🙏🙏 EVERYWHERE IN THE LAND OF LINCOLN.

He left Kentucky for the simplest of reasons --to get a head coaching job. You do that even if you love your job as an assistant. And keep in mind he followed Cal from Memphis to Kentucky. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he wanted to go back to Kentucky. If he stays at Illinois, it's a testament to how hard they fought to keep him. Either way, he's going to be well compensated for his talents.

I think OA should go back to Kentucky... after Cal is fired and they're looking for a head coach. In the meantime he should stay here and continue to build his resume.
