This is where I am. Hope I’m wrong, but the timeline and who is reporting everything favors Kentucky.I think the delay in announcing information about Chin and Orlando doesn't bode well for us. Kentucky has potential reasons to postpone making an announcement. They've just publicly posted the positions and recently lost a play in a tragic accident. I can see why they might hold off.
We, on the other hand, have no reason not to announce that both coaches have accepted new contracts to remain at Illinois. Unless they haven't.

If negotiations are ongoing, I wish I could see them. I'm an Illinois alum and lifelong fan, but I can't imagine what we could be offering that would drag negotiations out a week against freakin' Kentucky basketball. This is where I am. I’ve considered them gone for awhile now. We would have announced the new contracts. I’m sure we have feelers out and already have a great list of coaches I’m not happy that we can’t post our job and have to wait on Kentucky. If they are leaving - it better be announced in the next 24hrs. Will be a bitter taste in my mouth to drag this on for this long during the heat of recruiting and coaching carousel. Shouldn’t take 2 weeks to decide...hopefully our initial thoughts are true that the longer is drags out the better our chances are.
Maybe the staff is going through group counseling to see if they can work out those alleged differences. If negotiations are ongoing, I wish I could see them. You knew it wasn't gonna last long, but it was kind of spectacular.RIP "Kenny slam33".
Seemed to have worked out pretty well for our current head coach!I don't agree with the thinking that if at some near date we brought on Roger Powell and he was a top assistant here for 5 years he would first have to leave and coach at some mid major before he could be a head coach here. In the NBA you have a few scenarios 1) You have an older coach with a mix of young and old assistants and 2) You have a younger coach with a mix of old and younger assistants. In 5 years he will be 43!!!!! How old do want him to be before he would be a head coach 50+?????

The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long. Or something, something, danhammer. You knew it wasn't gonna last long, but it was kind of spectacular.
Juwan Howard- 7 years assistant NBASeemed to have worked out pretty well for our current head coach!
If we played the same way he does in recruiting, I'd bet we have a different looking roster as well.Juwan Howard- 7 years assistant NBA
Head Coach Michigan
Seems to have worked out for him!
I don’t often put posters on ignore — 3 or 4 since I’ve been on here — but each time I think they’ve been jettisoned within 2 or 3 days afterward. Record still intact.RIP "Kenny slam33".
Must have missed why he was kicked off

Is it common for a school to announce renewed contracts for coaches? I assume most coaches sign renewed contracts every few years without fanfare.I think the delay in announcing information about Chin and Orlando doesn't bode well for us. idk but in five years he'll be too old for everyone...I don't agree with the thinking that if at some near date we brought on Roger Powell and he was a top assistant here for 5 years he would first have to leave and coach at some mid major before he could be a head coach here.
