Smells clean!
Where do we currently sit with candidates? Who are the most current names we are hearing?
Haha, beat me to it.I think what I learned from the last carousel thread was there’s no list because nobody wants to be here. Because of that we should probably look at Brian Randle.
*not an insider
I hear: Young/Irvin. AJ Casey still has Illinois HIGH on his list/Guerrier has Oregon as leader/Ky. has Schutt as his leader and we should get a visit from De Ante Green. 6-9 PF from NC. Chester was recruiting him while at Va. Tech.Haha, beat me to it.
Thought Young from Uconn had already told us "no".I hear: Young/Irvin. AJ Casey still has Illinois HIGH on his list/Guerrier has Oregon as leader/Ky. has Schutt as his leader and we should get a visit from De Ante Green. 6-9 PF from NC. Chester was recruiting him while at Va. Tech.
Assuming that he is talking about this Young...Thought Young from Uconn had already told us "no".
I'm assuming CY Young then Irvin for Alexander's role, as he moves into Gentry's AC spot. And I really wish Illinois would've pushed for Schutt a while ago.I hear: Young/Irvin. If that is case, why are we hearing Schutt favors Kentucky now if so much dislike for Chin?Schutt would have never happened with Chin on board. At least we have an opportunity for a June visit. That recruitment gained an upgrade by Chin's departure. Same for Casey. They clearly are the 2 best players in Illinois in 022.
SCOOPED!View attachment 9252 This pretty much confirms Geoff as our second assistant replacement.

Not exactly. Guys are always moved into that "assistant" role so recruiting doesn't fall off. Happened many times with Lovie where a GA would become the "assistant coach" under the NCAA recruiting rule, until the spot was officially filled. In this case, it sure seems like he'll officially be an assistant coach, but as of now, he's probably just filling that role so we have all the recruiting positions filled and don't fall behind contacting prospects.View attachment 9252 This pretty much confirms Geoff as our second assistant replacement.
Schutt does not favor Kentucky at all.If that is case, why are we hearing Schutt favors Kentucky now if so much dislike for Chin?
If I'm not mistaken, he can't currently recruit in his position. Someone smarter than me, confirm. If, so, we have confirmation, or else a call to Dallas Thomas needs made to change the name to Coach FrazierView attachment 9252 This pretty much confirms Geoff as our second assistant replacement.
This happens pretty frequently in football due to the staff size and frequency of assistant openings. A non-recruiting coach is moved into the assistant role to keep contact with recruits until an official assistant is hired. I think Joe Fotu was moved from GA into the d line coach role while that was open. Pretty sure some recruiting staff has been elevated temporarily as well. I think the smoke here about Alexander tells us a lot more about him becoming the assistant coach than that tweet. If I'm not mistaken, he can't currently recruit in his position. Another random thought. Would it be impossible to give Bergeron the Assistant to the Head Coach role? I forget how that works. Assuming he would have to stay at least as long as Mitchell, but is that still illegal? Where is the line drawn on those things? He's not technically Mitchell's father, or his high school or AAU coach.
