He wasn’t ready to negotiate a new extension until he knew what his opportunities were going to be.Does Sanders taking the Colorado job help or hurt us keeping Walters? Also, I know Lunney got a pay raise, but I didn't see anything for Walters. May have missed it but curious as to why he didn't get one this year as well.
My guess is they’re in contract discussions with Walters now, as Walters explores other offers. If Walters chooses to stick with IL, I’m sure he’ll get a big fat raise.Does Sanders taking the Colorado job help or hurt us keeping Walters? Walters is certainly entitled to the same market pay as any other really good DC in the B1G or SEC .
I’m pretty confident JW sees it the same way .

And along with a Walters big fat raise I am sure it would come with an even bigger and fatter buyout for non-HC job openings elsewhere.Bingo ... Raises and extensions for a lot of this staff and of course Coach B ... Whitman has full booster support ...
Pretty interesting. This is a question that isn't likely to get asked too much at big ten schools. These TV contracts are absolute game changers in this area.View attachment 21914to everybody involved. This certainly won't be boring.
Interesting clause in that contract says they owe him 75% of the remainder in the event they fire him for cause. Is that typical?Pretty interesting. This is a question that isn't likely to get asked too much at big ten schools. These TV contracts are absolute game changers in this area.

Here's where I read itWhoa, can you share a tweet or link for that?
And this site says the 75% only applies if fired without cause which would make MUCH more sense:
Agreed and I'd hope there would be something in place to prevent a public entity from issuing a contract with a clause like that.Looks like they just made an error when transferring over the details from Howell's tweets. Paying 75% of the remaining contract when fired for cause would be UNPRECEDENTED and would create a lot of unwanted consequences.
him staying there just makes no sense whatsoever . the odds of that working out well for him is about 100-1 againstApparently Jim Leonhard staying at UW-Madison is still up in the air.

Just had to get it in writing before the recruiting violations get reported years down the road....Looks like they just made an error when transferring over the details from Howell's tweets.
