If BU would have left this team prior to the end of the year and JW made Chester the Interim coach. Do you really think Chester would get the job even if he won the NC? Terry is an assistant coach like Chester. No P5 head coaching pedigree which would preclude him from being considered. Although it seems stupid to me but that's how they play the game

to play devil's advocate, he's only proven that he can coach another coach's players far in tournaments. that's great for this year but what about next year? and the year after? there's a lot more to the job than that. how does he build a staff? how does he recruit? how does he develop players and get them to the league? does he have the aptitude to keep it going? think there are still a lot of question marks to be answered. (and i really don't know his history or track record before texas so maybe some of these are already answered)

I think that's the key. Texas is an extremely old and experienced team. That roster will look wildly different next year. Taking over a team of 4th and 5th year guys who are already playing at a top 10 level is a much different undertaking than bringing in a bunch of new guys and building a team from scratch.

Nah, no reason to do that. It's not like major sports news outlets are reporting this stuff. Sure, it's out there, but there's no need to put a bright spotlight on it when no one nationally is saying a word.
Based on what has been said here, I think there is no doubt it has legs to it. The relationship between the two seems to have certainly become frosty. But Whitman really can't fire BU, so its just a matter if BU finds a decent school that wants to hire him. We are stuck playing the waiting game until the carousel really takes off.

Honest question, why would it be bad optics? I think the casual fans would see it as an upgrade just as would the hardcore fans? There might be some critical articles written, but those are of little consequence. As soon as Miller has Some positive news like a high profile assistant coach or player signing all would be forgotten.
