Does anyone want coach Underwood anymore? What is going on? Lol.
For me, it was nice just to imagine different possible coaches to get the job, but in the end, this may be a good thing. Out of some conflict, an understanding emerges. Hopefully, BU will be motivated and up to the task to--at the very least--get the Illini to the Sweet 16.

I agree it is important to have players who are warriors in crunch time. However, I told my wife with three minutes to go in the Texas game that the worst thing Texas can do is have the ball in Marcus Carr's hands in crunch time. The ball will stop and he will revert to hero ball chucking. The ball stopped and Carr turned it over at a critical time. Watched him chuck shots in hero ball fashion when he was at Minnesota.

Got a 70 year old guy here in town that makes 95 out of a 100 everyday at the YMCA. Maybe he is available to show them what touch means!😂😂
Reminds me of one of the coaches at CHS in the 70s. Stood there at the South FT line between class periods in Combes Gym and hit 50 in a row. Some days he went for 75 or 100. Rarely missed. Shot them one armed. Drew a small crowd.

I have a coach Cal feeling right now for the shorthorns
TEXAS:
Largest alumni base and largest AD budget and largest NIL budget

paired with

Coach Cal:
the guy who is most accustomed to coaching in the modern NCAA universe, and turning over his roster annually

PROBLEM: Not sure his stock is at its peak.......so, betting there is a sexier choice.

Let's just say Texas gets Cal and Kentucky lands Oats. Are top coaches interested in Alabama? My guess would be no.

I think the carousel only really turns if Tang or Musselman end up in Texas (of the most discussed candidates).

I say they are called free throws for a reason…..just f’ing make em!
That's OK approach, but we MUST ensure that we recruit guys that already have form and track record for freethrows (proven performance say above 70%).

That said, suggest you relay that "recruiting rule" to our Asst Coach for recruiting coordination

Terrible Ted was my first rock n roll concert at the Assembly Hall in 1977.
Never saw Nugent. Once caught REO at the Urbana Civic Center. Terry Luttrell was the lead singer.

Concerts attended: Procol Harum, Jethro Tull, the Grateful Dead (twice), John Mayall, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Frank Zappa, Emmylou Harris.

Caught Vassar Clements (hillbilly jazz) at Panama Red's. Saw Pork and the Havana Ducks there too.

Saw Kool Ray and the Polaroids and the Vertebrats at Mabel's

To recap

our current coach isn’t doing good enough, despite 2 conference titles and 4 straight tourney berths (counting 2020)

but also is considered to take (not “be offered” or “in consideration”) a top-5 profile job in all of college basketball

Im not sure Texas is a top 5 job. You also forgot the robust 60/70s band and old coach free throw shooting conversations.

We have three insiders that think there may be chaos and then one that doesn’t sound too optimistic that there will be any chaos. Who has the better sources here….we shall find out soon.

You say that like upheaval is preferred, which I totally disagree with. If Brad Underwood remains here? Fantastic! If the rumors that might lead to Sean Miller being coach instead of Underwood? Fantastic, he’s great.

What would be an unambiguous disaster is if Underwood leaves us and we end up with a lesser replacement. I have every faith in Whitman, but this is at least a remote possibility if we need a new coach. I do not want any haters talking about us “losing a coach,” especially to the likes of KSU or Arkansas. That simply should not happen.

I have to apologize for contributing to part of that. I got caught up in the flow of the offense and reacted instinctively. Also, I am not sure if REO was at the Civic Center or the Union. Or both.
