Conference Realignment

Looks like we might be getting Oregon State and Wazzu to the Mountain West pretty soon:

I think with both school’s controlling $400 million in assets I think the PAC-10 name will remain and the MWC merges under the traditional P5 name. Both schools right now have decent football

Over the weekend, ND and NBC announced an extension of their agreement, thru the 2029 season. Financial terms were not disclosed, but it's widely known ND was looking for $50-$60 million a year, to stay independent.

can someone with knowledge of this explain the financial reasons why these smaller , mainly east coast schools are now finding it beneficial to jump up a level?

A conference that was raided and needs to stay viable.
I’d like to know the question for which the answer is “add Delaware as a full fledged member to the league “

there can hardly be a more worthless fanbase in DI in the metrics that matter today , and I fully realize there was a day when Delaware was a decent program in FCS .

Most FBS conferences are going to look for coast to coast programs to build up their brands/secure bigger media deals. There is a lot of FCS level schools that can bring some share of those markets... it's not necessarily about how successful the school is financially and on the football field.

I had never even heard of Kennesaw State, but looks like they're bringing a decent football product and Georgia eyes to C-USA. Rinse and repeat.

Scraps of food are better than starving, and sometimes the investment pays off.

Delaware won its opening round FCS playoff game last Saturday over Lafayette, and plays at #2 seed Montana this weekend. Perhaps they have delusions of grandeur.

Exactly. Though I must say it does feel odd seeing some of these schools that are traditional FCS Football powers going to FBS. Heck, I can remember when it was a big deal when I started in college and Jacksonville State and Samford had just came into the OVC. Jacksonville State ended up being the top dog in the conference in football immediately.

I know geography is a big issue for North Dakota State moving up but I'd start to wonder if they eventually decide to go to FBS.
