You better listen to him...Samba faces the same thing.I expect that Lieb knows exactly where he stands and has decided to stay.
Others may know what methods of Creaning exist beyond the "You're not going to play" conversation. Regardless, it seems clear that Coach has decided not to do that to Lieb.
Andre is playing more (30 mpg vs 20 mpg at Illinois) but other than shooting better from 3 is pretty much the same player against worse competition.
I see he is wearing the colored goggles so I suspect he is light sensitive from the concussion. Its a shame to see his career sidetracked by injury. I will never forget how he played in the win @ Michigan and during the B10 tourney title run. I hope he gets better and develops into a 20 ppg 8 apg star at St. John.![]()
I had an assignment at work recently that led me to dive into the psychology of "loss aversion" and it made me think about AC.Setting aside the fact that you're essentially saying "other than fixing the biggest weakness in his game, he's exactly the same" which is a funny way to put things, I think it's at least somewhat significant that he's averaging 2.2 more ppg than he did his freshman season and averaging 1.9 steals per game, which is more than double what he was doing here. I think it's also significant that his numbers look more like his pre-injury freshman year numbers. I don't understand the need to minimize the progress he's made since last season.
I watched all but the last six minutes of the Virginia/Wake Forest game. They were going on and on about Wake point gaurd Appleby and how he impacted the game yet he already had eight turnovers when I switched it off. They repeatedly said you can't discount the positive things he was doing on the floor because of those turnovers. At Illinois it would not be perceived like that.I had an assignment at work recently that led me to dive into the psychology of "loss aversion" and it made me think about AC.
The pain people feel when they lose something is 2x greater than the pleasure they feel from gaining something. So loss, or the fear of loss is a very powerful motivator and driver behind human behavior.
The connection to AC? Some people are so blinded by their pain caused by his TOs (loss of possession) that they can't even see his positives. Some people are even holding grudges against him for making them feel that pain.
I also think this is why people get so frustrated by poor FT shooting. They're free. So going 1-2 from the line feels like losing a point instead of gaining a point.
A Curbelo with 33.3% 3P% is pretty darn good (at least for some teams) IMO. I am a bit surprised he didn't score more though.Andre is playing more (30 mpg vs 20 mpg at Illinois) but other than shooting better from 3 is pretty much the same player against worse competition.

Sheesh. Just looked at the box score. Kid had himself a game. 18 pts, 4 rb, 8 asts, 13-14 FT, to go with 8 tos.I watched all but the last six minutes of the Virginia/Wake Forest game. Gotta correct myself again. It was the Wake Forest/Duke game.Sheesh. Just looked at the box score. Kid had himself a game. 18 pts, 4 rb, 8 asts, 13-14 FT, to go with 8 tos.

Minimize? I thought he put his numbers in pretty good context. You left out the per 40 numbers which would actually be a bit down from the freshman year.Setting aside the fact that you're essentially saying "other than fixing the biggest weakness in his game, he's exactly the same" which is a funny way to put things, I think it's at least somewhat significant that he's averaging 2.2 more ppg than he did his freshman season and averaging 1.9 steals per game, which is more than double what he was doing here. Ha ha, love that. Could you say it again?EIU’s win at Iowa.
Andre only takes two 3 PA per game (up from 1 PA) and is shooting 33% thru 12 games. Andre's scoring freshman year was 9 ppg. He is at 11 ppg this year.Setting aside the fact that you're essentially saying "other than fixing the biggest weakness in his game, he's exactly the same" which is a funny way to put things, I think it's at least somewhat significant that he's averaging 2.2 more ppg than he did his freshman season and averaging 1.9 steals per game, which is more than double what he was doing here. That would be a shame. Head injuries are very tricky. It ended Mike Matheny's career as MLB catcher.Sometimes i think we suffer from CDS, Curbelo Derangement Syndrome.
He obviously is still recovering from the concussion from a year ago, which means he was still recovering after he came back last season, which means he was still recovering at the time of the NCAA Houston debacle.
I am ready to cut him some slack.
I just pray he doesn’t end up like Tony C, Boston Red Sox
Potential never fully realized
Sometimes I wonder if it affects his career as manager to this day. That would be a shame. Head injuries are very tricky. It ended Mike Matheny's career as MLB catcher.
