If he transfers again he has to sit out a year if my rules knowledge is correct. He might wait to see what the coach situation at SJU is first, as Anderson is hanging on by a thread right now. I won't be surprised if he signs with a pro team somewhere and moves on.

I wonder how much of problem is the concussion. He should never have left Illinois. At St. John Andre's play is much more under control and less ball dominant His 3 pg % improved from 20% to 30% but he only attempts 1.5 per game. He definitely would be starting PG with Skyy gone.

Anderson’s buyout is reported to be close to $10 million.

When Curbelo was asked why he wasn’t playing, he said he didn’t know.

He puts the “fun” in dysfunctional.

Who was he going to play in front of? Plummer? Trent? Damonte? Grandison? Curbelo? I don't think anyone would say yes.

Then you look at his fellow Fr, he didn't perform nearly as well as RJ or Goode. Just looking at 3 pt shooting, RJ shot 60%, Goode 37%, Podz 23%.

The answer is simple: personal improvement + massive increase in opportunity = success

If he were still here, we probably wouldn't have one of Mayer or Shannon. Would an improved Podz be worth the loss of one of our top 2 scorers? Would Podz be blocking shots like Mayer? If Underwood had a crystal ball I could see the answer being yes. Podz scoring 10 ppg could be better for the program than Mayer scoring 12 ppg since Podz would be here the following year. He probably would have taken a lot of Goode's and RJ's time given RJ's struggles and Goode's injury. But I don't think Underwood has a crystal ball. No way he could have known Goode would get hurt, RJ would struggle, and Podz would explode. He saw a redundant piece to RJ and Goode, who played much better as Fr and the opportunity to get guys that would lead the team in scoring. It was the right move.

The right move doesn't always work out. That's just called life.
I agree with the biggest majority of this post. Except the bit about RJ and Luke being redundant. I see just as many differences as I do similarities in their attributes/ respective games. I doubt Underwood saw them as a complete redundancy…because they’re just not.

ESPN 2024 mock...kylan Boswell and podz are late firsts and Bryce Hopkins checks in during the 2nd round.

Boswell?? Really?? Not exactly crushing it in the stat department. Is it ALL potential??

That’d be the worst type of 1-and-done.

Edit: Wait, that’s the 2024 draft. My bad.

I find it amusing that the NY Post article has a photo of Curbelo wearing orange shades while dressed in street clothes on the bench. Leftover Champaign gear?

Wonder if he's eating popcorn on the bench again?

I haven't followed him this season. Did he get another concussion or is this a continuing effect of last season's injury?
My admittedly limited understanding is that he continues to have residual effects from multiple concussions last season.

The symptoms he has suffered include a sensation of vertigo during games. My guess is the stadium lighting exacerbates his issues, hence the glasses.

Hoping the best for him... and for TSJ as well - he bashed his head pretty hard on the floor, too.

Absolutely. These injuries are terrible and the effects long-lasting. Andre was never the same after that first concussion last season. And I do assume the orange rims indicate these are the glasses he wore last year with us.

Why didn’t Dawson Garcia or Omar Payne have to sit out a year after their second transfers? Seem like the rule is subjective at best.

Here are a few NBA scouts that may beg to differ, two got Podz going at 40 to Okl. City, another at 45 to Denver and one at 46 to Memphis - citing his shot making ability, creativity, versatility and runner touch as among some of his appropriate skill sets. Podz is pretty much included right around Hawk and TJS on most mock draft boards....here's to hoping they all make some serious $$$$
Sounds a little like his hero, Herro. Who has been worth his draft position.

But Payne and Garcia transferred from Florida and Marquette, respectively, after the 20-21 season. Shouldn’t that have been their one time transfer?
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think for both players the initial transfer was a COVID transfer. The second was due to the subsequent rule change.

I'm to lazy to look it up, but were there coaching changes with there original transfers? I think that allows for immediate eligibility.
