10%?!

My foggy memory is that after the injury he was up to about 295 and there was concern he was getting way too fat again. I take it a whole lot of that excess fat is now muscle?

Thorne checking in at 288lbs at 10% body fat... he is a house.
Think he weighed 260 something at the start of the season last year. That Instagram photo of him he posted back then, he was beast.

But 288 pounds and 10% body fat...woah. That's just monster. Can't wait to watch him play now.

Thorne is 6'11, 288, 10% body fat, ripped abs, and can touch the top of the backboard. How many bigs in college basketball have comparable measurables? Probably less than 5? Seriously, I can't think of any. And he's not super raw - little bit of a post game, decent fundamentals. We're going to step onto the court with a physical advantage at the Center spot virtually every game this year.

Even other monsters like Isaac Haas(Thorne not as tall, but just as big/wager he's stronger) don't have that kind of mobility. He's gonna have some big games this year, pun intended.

I was disappointed in Rothstein's preseason first team selection. I think Hill deserved to be on that list. Leaving Hill off that list, is like taking away Captain America from the Avengers. I think Hill is a first-team selection. Also struck me odd that Jok wasn't mentioned either.

Good to see Lucas and Finke mentioned by him at the end, though he mispronounced Finke's last name. Guys call him Fink anyway.

It'll be interesting to see what Jok does without Uthoff

Heck, just leave him in all game on the offensive end to cherry pick. ;)
288# and can get up to 12'? OMG, we have a Wilt!

Ha! Probably closer to Nene, but with a few more pounds of muscle and a little less fluidity. If Big Mike stays healthy and plays 22-25 mpg, I think he'll be a tremendous asset. What do you guys think about this over/under: 11 pts, 7 reb, 1 blk

Lol at 10% bf.

Guys i hate to break it to you but he's very likely not.

They use skinfold tests way too much with these guys and give utterly ridiculous bf %s.

This is like hearing Ray Rice is 5-6% bf over 100 times throughout the season. Ray made some major strides but he may have barely hit 10%.

5-6% is a bodybuilder the day of a show. 10% is fairly ripped stomach and not carrying baby weight in other areas..

Not trying to be a debbie downer but if he is at 15-17% thatd be a heck of an improvement and pretty darn lean for a banger center.

There's a certain picture there showing off a "fairly ripped stomach w/o baby weight in other areas".

That may be last year, and that may be in the 12-14% range if you want to to be picky about it, but Groce is a numbers guy and if he's really checking in at 288 and Groce is praising his body fat levels, that says he's been making some strides in resistance training and he really may not be that far off.

The actual body fat % matters less than the relative numbers from past to present and player to player as long as the scale doesn't change. If he has improved his muscle to fat ratio, increased explosiveness and conditioning, and improved skills generally I'm happy regardless of the bio #s.

Not a twitter guy-- forgive me for not sharing a tweet properly.

Evan Daniels on Twitter: "Illinois wing Malcolm Hill off to a good start. Has hit multiple mid-range J's, a 3 and is all over the glass. Making toughness plays."

I have Upper Baseline might try to move to Baseline if we can upgrade but that's probably as much as I can afford this year.

Anyone have any update on how Malcom is looking at the Nike Academy

Since we are talking tickets, does anyone have advice for me on getting the best BTT tickets? It is in my town this year, and I'd really like to have good seats. I am not a donor to date. How much does that matter?

Yeah there doesn't seem to be a ton of coverage on this at all. Pretty surprising considering the NBA stars in attendance and all the young talent.

Wow, sounds like Malcolm is crushing it. Maybe we'll see a Buddy Hield type of senior leap. I don't expect it, but how much fun would it be if Malcolm put up something like a 23/7/4 line, led us to a S16, and then went in the lottery? That scenario would make my whole year.
