I'm a pill-pusher, not an MD or PT. Do we have anybody in the house who can interpret that type of cast?

I will be going to the Wake Forest Game. Does anyone know what section the Illini are sitting in? How would I find out?

On the 4 minute mile, yes it is moving; however here is a little perspective from a former distance runner. If they are on the treadmill for 45 seconds it is indeed running for 300 meters. That is 3/4 of a lap. When I was in high school and college we had to run a lap in 60 seconds, same pace; however, we also had to do that 12-20 times at that pace with about a 5 minute rest. I can assure you it is not a sprint but still moving. Granted the players are not distance runners, but to get into the shape BU wants them in this should be achievable for 45 seconds. They are sprinting the rest of the time while on the floor. The best thing is don't dog it in practice and stay off the treadmill.

My guess is York? We used to do our repeats at 65. I was a decent distance runner in HS, but terrible sprinter. Never broke 60, yet could run 2:06 half. We are all built differently with different talents and skills. I am guessing that you are not built like our basketball players, it is what you did. However, like you said, best thing is to not dog it in practice. I think once (or twice) would be enough to get the point across.

I think everyone is way overestimating the speed and demand of 300m in 45 seconds - as well as aerobic vs anaerobic systems - a good, not great, 9th grade track time is 55 sec 400 m. A typical workout might be 6 x 300m @ 45 seconds with 4 minute rest. At HS = increase intensity considerably esp for great/elite speed. A very good (not elite) HS miler will do 10x400 @ 63-67 seconds with 60 seconds rest maybe with some 200s replacing the 400s; or 6x800 @2:15-20 BBall will be more along the lines of a 100m/200m sprinter workouts and systems. Anearobic system can be tapped for about 60-70 seconds before crashing. I would hope they could all run that fast for 300m-400m (85-90% effort). Game has different demands because you don't have 'momentum' from a stride, its a lot faster speed, and you spend a lot of energy accelerating, decelerating and changing direction. A fast break is about 24-27m. We always see weightlifting numbers but I don't ever recall seeing times from interval workouts or even what they do for anaerobic/aerobic development

OK, next time I go to the gym, I am going to hop on the treadmill at 15 mph, though I think it only goes to 14. I'll see if I can make it 45 sec. Of course, I am 51 yrs old.

Could be a broken finger...had one once that was very similar. Years ago, but the same type/size due to nerves in forearm.

York would be a good guess; however, Kewanee High. I was in high school in the late 70's early 80's. I could barely make the 400 times, ok we actually ran 440s. I did run 2:00 to 2:05 in the half and my best mile was 4:12. I was not fast at the sprints but fairly consistent in times with distance. Now, I don't think I could even run a lap but I am old and fat now too.

Yes, could be a broken metacarpal. I broke mine on my thumb and was in a cast for a couple months.

Sounds to me like it could be broken distal radius, or maybe scaphoid. Wrist.

Just based on the cast.

I don't think anything has been announced about Black. Maybe waiting for an evaluation to make any statements? Maybe Black has a doppelgänger on campus??

On WDWS's Saturday sports show, Tate said that Black had surgery on his elbow bursa sac. Tate's announcement was early in the broadcast.

I had that surgery a few years back. Pretty quick recovery time. I wasn't trying to play D I basketball a month after mine, so who knows. Shouldn't be that bad though - compared to a fracture.
