DeAndre Jordan doesn't shoot 3s...but he has had a very successful career since 09. DJ is not quite as big as Kofi, but clearly NBA have spots for guys like DJ and KC.
He is making money , but has been on 4 teams in 2 years. I think teams think he can fit in, but then he gets there & doesnt. We had big hopes for him when he first came to the Mavericks, but his role/effectiveness lessened up until his trade to the Knicks.

I am not shilling for this company, but I was bereft when the athletic dept told me last week that Nike wasn't going to be putting last years 70's script throwback jerseys out any time soon....so imagine my surprise when I saw these: https://www.gamedayspirit.com/retro...-white-script-basketball-replica-jersey-13128
And yes, I ordered one posthaste

Yeah, those are nice. Just saw the email today. Certainly better than ordering a knockoff for $30 and hoping to get something in the mail several months later.

It's a shame. Griffin is clearly both a talented player and a headcase. It appears he has some other inherited traits that don't do him well in this realm.
I watched that game. I think that he got frustrated in the 2nd half. I think Cuse totally underestimated Neastern and had too many guys just looking to increase their scoring averages. They missed him on good cuts through the lane, they missed him on cuts to open spots on the floor. After not getting him many shots in the 1st half and the start of the 2nd, he looked very frustrated and seemed to just decide to let them play. They don't let him crash the offensive boards like IL did. That is a Bheim philosophy regarding getting back on D. He has looked excellent in the other games that I have seen him in. Coach B didn't say anything about the junk shots his son threw up and how he didn't even look for Griffin a lot of the time.

He also doesn't have to play man to man defense which helps him greatly. He was a decent help defender but not so good man on man

That was a problem here also, off track but Gonzaga at Iowa tomorrow, can't wait to see how that shakes out. Go Zags!

Is it just me or do we need to shake up the minutes some.

Illini #7 in Pomeroy standings. Fall in the poll and gain on this.

Lots of interesting stuff in there. #5 offense, #47 defense. I saw that Big Ten Geek account on twitter called us "2-point Iowa" and that seems accurate to this point. Our SOS at #15 is very high relative to our peers. West Virginia (16th SOS) and UNC (23rd SOS) are the only comparable teams in the overall Top 50. And then there's our old friend: the Luck rating (280th).

Just found this update from Vegas...........very interesting. We're still holding strong in the Top 5. (And where in the world did Houston come from? Phi Slamma Jamma II, perhaps?)

I think this is reflective of a betting fanbase who is expecting huge results this year. With three losses,... not sure we deserve these odds quite yet.

I know it's a long ways off, but I can hardly wait for the Iowa game and Kofi matching up with Luka "Lumberfoot" Garza.

I think it’s fortunate we didn’t get them early. We have some things to improve on before then. Ayo and Kofi can’t carry that game.

I root hard for these kids to go get paid... but another year would be mutually beneficial. He could develop his mid-range game. Become more dominant going to the rim. Pick up some post moves. Gives us a cushion to find a replacement/develop others.

Lets see how the season plays out.

With a week off until our next game, now seems like as good a time as any to look at our remaining schedule. I pulled this off of our profile on barttorvik:

20201227_IllinoisRemainingSchedule.png

These numbers will continue to shift as the season progresses, but as you can see we have an upcoming stretch of six pretty winnable games up until we travel to East Lansing on 1/23. After @MSU, we have four I-A games in a row, then three more winnable games, before our regular season wraps up with two more I-A games. If this season plays out like last season, we might need to win @Wisc and/or @OSU to claim a share of the conference title. That's brutal. But such is life in the Big Ten this year. Not a fan of our projected 13-7 conference record? Just a reminder that we finished 13-7 last season, 0.5 a game back from the three way tie at 14-6 for the conference title. And if you think that 17-9 overall looks ugly, don't worry. Even with the current projections, Torvik still thinks we have a 97.4% chance of making the tournament as a 2.7 seed. We had a brutal non-conference schedule and the Big Ten is a meat grinder. We will have every chance to continue assembling an impressive resume before tournament time.

In summary, we need to stack wins before 1/23, because they'll probably be a lot harder to come by in the second half of our conference schedule. On the plus side, there are some really exciting games to look forward to as we slowly but surely work our way into postseason shape.
