Purdue's reign of unsettling and awkward terror continues as they sign another 7-footer (this one from Sweden): Will Berg.

Will Berg? From frozen Sweden? At 7'2" and 265 lbs, his nickname has to be Ice. It practically writes itself.

Who knew that a 7'2" Purdue prospect would be the thing to kill what was thought unkillable...RIP 041422 LAD

In 2004, I remember reading a writeup of the 2005 team that stated in the previous year an absurdly high number of baskets (like 70% or more) were assisted. I don't think many teams will ever reach that level.
You read a writeup about a future teams previous year??? lol

I remember reading a writeup along those lines but I thought it was late in the '05 season and it was about that year's team, and yes, they had assists on around 70% of made baskets. I also think it said that was the highest assist % ever at the time

Wonder what ACC team we get in the challenge. Considering we probably don’t get a Gavitt game this year that can really shape our non con even considering the Vegas tourney.

thankfully we seem to have set ourself up for a top matchup annually. would love to see us get UNC next year and could honestly see it happening if Kofi is back. Kofi vs Bacot is must watch. Duke is also highly ranked in most way-too-early polls. UM and us (assuming Kofi back) appear to be top ranked B1G teams, so Duke or UNC definitely possible.

Virginia is fringe top 25, though I doubt we'd get them given we may see them in Vegas.

Didn't know where to put this.

Anyway, Illinois is doing something called 2022 Illini Tailgate Tour, visiting several cities across the state starting in May, I think.

I've registered for the Rockford stop in June to be hosted by Deon Thomas with featured guests Josh Whitman, Chester Frazier, Geoff Alexander.

Free admission, free food!

Just check out FightingIllini.com/IlliniTour for complete list of stops, hosts, guests, etc. Coaches Bielema and Underwood will also be part of the tour.

I hate myself for this, but, yes, you read that correctly. It was a 2004 preview of the 2005 team, using stats from the previous season and the fact that their rosters were identical. (Sorry...when I read your reply, I thought dementia might be setting in. I won't allow that to happen until lllinois *at least* reaches the Final Four.)

I think it was from "Sports Illustrated," and I specifically remember the line "any team can get picked off during tournament time, but this team is something special." (Thanks, ginko baloba!)

The SI readership agrees with that general sentiment:

(38 3-point shots missed? Funny, I only remember the two in the final minute...)

edit: 28 3-pointers. I left in my mistake, because I think it's funny...and because apparently the ginko *biloba* does nothing.

Rarely speculate but I did hear from someone that Kofi won’t be returning. Would love them to be wrong
