It’s high school man. Anyone with talent will run the point. High school coaches put the ball in the hands of their most talented players. Just because he can do it against a bunch of 5’10 guys who will be rushing in a few months isn’t the same as handling the ball against other D1 prospects. How many of those is he going up against at thorton township? I love him as a undersized high energy 4 that can pass. I’ve watched his film and think he will be a great success. But let’s relax on the point forward talk until we actually see it. Mark smith was also Jason Kidd for a little bit
You realize he said he is a point forward in high school AND aau right? Aau is literally against other D1 prospects

While what you are saying is correct, it is still different. AAU is just playground ball. It is not D1 coached players. Not saying that Ty won't be able to bring the ball up some, just that I have my doubts that he is ever any sort of lead guard type of guy in college.

Best Twitter response: "He's hungry for an L"

Someone in their comms department literally thought, "Hunter, sexy it up and hold your tummy like you ate too many nacho fries... Oh yeah, that's it"
Nacho fries wasn’t what I was thinking he ate too many of, but I guess the fill in the blank options are endless.

So given our current roster. I’m predicting something along the lines of minutes.

G- Clark- 32, Epps- 8
G- Epps- 22, Harris- 18
G- Melendez- 30, TY- 6, Goode- 4
F- Hawkins-24, TY- 8, Goode-8
C Dain 22, BBV- 12, Hawk- 6
Too hard to me to predict till we see who we get from the portal, however:

It seems a lot of people are down on Goode after a Freshman season in which he was on a veteran laden team.

He is Brad’s next glue guy, a real ‘Every Day Guy’ IMO. if he defends, he will get minutes. And probably be a solid role player. BU starts and ends his lineup with defense and guys who do the dirty work. Think DMW. Sometimes I think fans devalue the right play for the flashy attempt. DMW played because he was always in the right place at the right time. Grabbing the board we need, throwing the ball off someone to save a possession, making the right pass etc.

Again, I think that is Goode moving forward. Always need a guy who can extend a possession and doesnt mind doing the dirt it took to get it.

Also, saw somebody said Ty plays point sometimes. If that can translate this year, then any time we need some stops, well…

Ty
RJ
Goode
Hawk
Dainja

I think Goode will be a big part of whether we sink or swim next year. He'll have a year in the system, and he's already gained some of BU's trust on the biggest stage. He can knock down the three, has a nose for the ball, and will have a year of strength and conditioning at the collegiate level. I'm not saying he'll start, but it wouldn't surprise me if any of the frosh struggle to understand D at this level.

I don’t think anybody is down on Goode. Everybody sees him as an important piece moving forward.

I think some people just have unrealistic expectations for him based on his current strengths/weaknesses.

Plummer would have never seen the floor if defense was that important to Brad.

I thought I heard on a radio broadcast this year that Underwood had been quoted that Goode would be a 1,500 point scorer at Illinois before he was done. Did anyone else hear this?
Quick math on that… assuming Goode plays 3 full seasons. Let’s say 100 games. Brad is saying he will average 15 points a game for every game the rest of his career… that is king hyperbole lol. I mean Ayo scored 1500 points in three years. But he averaged 20 a game his junior year.

So...sixth man award?

This is the most accurate take with regards to Ty, he can certainly bring the ball up and initiate off a rebound but he didn't really create offense by himself in the half court at AAU, played as a high energy 4 like you said but if he develops the jumper and handle more I don't see why he could not run point in a shooter heavy lineup

It seems to me that if Rodgers has great court vision it's going to show up over time in a program that develops him within a scheme, not so much in the AAU environment.
