I'm a Dain fan. He's a likeable kid and is so skilled around the rim. Plus I just like yelling, "Dain DAINJAAA" at our games after he throws one down. For the first several games, I held to the belief that we needed to get him more minutes.

But the truth is, he's the odd man out. That doesn't mean he's not good. He just doesn't fit our style of play anymore. I hope he doesn't get too discouraged and can enjoy the ride and appreciate his place on this team.

I still believe he can flirt with an all conference team at the high major level in the right situation.
I agree, I wouldn't be surprised if he transferred back home to Minneapolis and averaged 18 and 10 for the Gophers. He would get enough shots and he is highly efficient on the offensive side...

Now that Maryland has sold out, the floodgates of sellouts versus "M" teams should open up.

NGL our schedule looks pretty easy going forward, which is a blessing and a curse. Not many quad 1 win opportunities this year...

I don't see too many challenges.
MSU this Thursday will be tough
@OSU 1/30
@MSU 2/10
@Wisconsin 3/2
vs Purdue 2/5

If we win Thursday, I don't see us losing at home this season, except to Purdue.

I could realistically see this team going 17-3 in B1G play

I am impressed by this season so far. Last season really put a bad taste in my mouth and I truly wondered if Brad was the guy. I STILL would like to see an advancement past the 1st weekend, but I am encouraged by how this year has gone so far

and whoever goes to the Sunday game..bundle up!!!
One of the coldest days I have ever witnessed was at a Jan. game in 73...maybe 74. It was against Purdue who won rather easily in AH.

As we drove to the game, an hour drive, we passed fields filled with 15 inches of snowfall two days before, the roads having been cleared. The fences were almost covered by drifting snow and it was 10-15 below.The most memorable part of that trip was that the pheasants had gathered in the middle of every field ...generally a dozen or more in each. They felt safe I assume as any predator would have a long, hard trek to even get close. Never have I seen anything like it before or since.

January 12, 1974. Purdue 91, Ill 69. Coldest day of the year for Champaign (-9): https://www.extremeweatherwatch.com/cities/champaign/year-1974
The good ole days when we still had fences and pheasants.

Penn State has moved the Illinois basketball game from the Bryce Jordan Center to Rec Hall. Attendance at Bryce Jordan has been pitiful. Think of the Assembly Hall with the lights turned off over the 200 level. We've gone to the Illinois vs Penn State at Bryce Jordan for the past four or five years and we've always been able to get great seats via SeatGeek, but they actually turn the lights off on the upper section so you can't see that the seats are empty.

Rec Hall? Think Huff Gym. Rec Hall was built in 1929 and has a seating capacity of 6,502. Huff Gym (I can't call it Huff Hall. I took WSI/water sports, and fencing, for part of my PE requirement at Huff) seats 4,050 and was opened in 1921. It was used for basketball until the Assembly Hall opened in 1964 (which you old farts, that is 60 years ago).

Tickets are not available for the game except to season ticket holders, and tickets on SeatGeek are for seats in the Bryce Jordan Center. We've been to Illinois vs Penn State volleyball, and the place as small as it sounds. It's one way to fill the house. Make the house smaller. Much smaller. Next year's game will be held in a doublewide.

Penn State is hyping it as a "return to its root," and the Illinois game will be the first game back at Rec Hall. Here's the Penn State announcement.

My mistake. Only the Illinois game will be at Rec Hall.

Great win vs underated but talented MSU team last night.

Our team is significantly better than last years team for multiple reasons

- all 5 starters commit to defense and rebounding
- all 5 starters are willing to pass
- we are much better offensively with Marcus posting and Quincy/Justin/Luke/Coleman taking good 3 point shots and converting them
- Coleman in last 4 games has figured out his role with this team.
- even without TSJ this is very good team.
- this team is very mature - Quincy Justin and Marcus are 5th year seniors. Coleman is senior. Luke is a junior. Ty is only youngster (sophomore).
- this team does not give up. They refused to let Purdue blow them out.
- Damask is our real PG

Roster construction has been impressive, and this might be best team since 2005. BU still struggling with in game adjustments, and some game planning but we may have the players to finally overcome his weaknesses.

Also removal of the "me first" players from team has really helped.

I hope Sencire is joining TSJ for 530 am shooting practice. If Sencire can add a reasonable 3 point shot he could really be a factor next year.
