I will never root for another school as long as I am still above ground. May not root for the coach but will certainly support the players wearing orange and blue. Tom or Steve if you are out there and reading this forum, time to get the old printing presses ready and a stash of blank bumper stickers.

With Brad we're BAD!
I'm SAD with Brad!

Any other good slogans?

Thoughts?
"It's not the coaches, It's the players fault! /s

I think it is a reasonable suggestion. Would we NEVER full-court press a team because we don't practice it everyday? No, but if sparingly practiced, it could come in handy in short durations at opportune times.

Same is true of zone defense, imo. And as I've said before, if zone doesn't work for a few possessions you can abandon it and go back to your 'bread and butter.'

love that TSJ is being a good sport about it but can’t imagine JW is going to enjoy being reminded of it constantly

I would think JW would feel better about it if TSJ is embracing the gaffe like he is. Judging by the good dude TSJ seems to be, I'd guess he's telling JW that it wasn't a big deal.

I think TJ is turning this into a positive thing. He's being so gracious and humble about it. At this point we can all just kinda laugh about it. The only one who could rationally be upset about it is turning it into a charity event, and not ironically. What a great kid.

Not that any of us needed any more evidence of what an awesome human being TJ is, the fact that he's using the moment to inspire kids is tremendous

Credit to his mom who posted the next day that no apologies were necessary that it was very fitting given how last season was upside down for TJ and he came out stronger - he rode with that message and is raising money for a good cause. Inspiring stuff

I wonder how many the person who screwed his banner up are required to buy?
Bardo says that there are checks against such a thing happening, and that more than one person would have seen it before it went up, and thus must have been intentional.

Kid gloves. I think Brad knows he has a young, possibly soft team. So he adapts his communication style to suit them.

Plus we know from some of the comments made by the players and the media that he's still pretty fiery in practice. Which to me points back to him trying to protect their psyches during games.

I guess if I were to nitpick it would be that he doesn't work the refs hard enough. Seems like other coaches always get at least one makeup call or something just to shut them up. (Although he's been T'd up like twice this year, right?)
Just my opinion of course, but it seems that most savvy coaches get teed up to put fire in his team and blunt the other team's momentum. They also hope to elicit a make up call. The two times Brad got teed up was because he totally lost his temper and became genuinely enraged. At least one of the times the technical free throws hurt Illinois significantly.

I think the comments this year are due to the complete 180 degree change by Brad. Seems weird to go from such a fiery personality to the mild mannered guy we see on the sidelines now. Its not like Brad is a kid, his personality is well established. So such a sudden change is...jarring. Of course if we were winning you would 100% not see the comments, but it comes back to people searching for any solutions.
He is dealing with kids that have a choice where they will play next year. This is much like the NBA where players have to be catered to and cajoled into playing for the team.

I was so furious about the events of Saturday night that I completely missed Josh Whitman's assumption of accountability. I finally read it today.

I really thought that was as good of a leadership statement as I've seen when something bad has happened. No double-speak of "sorry to those we offended" or anything like that. Direct and to the point, and he basically said that he's the leader and had to be held accountable.

I'd love to work for someone like that (even if I was the one making the mistake and knew he would rip me a new rectal cavity in private).

20 in KenPom, 18 in the Net. Somehow still above MSU in the Net despite losing to them twice. MSU is really good, but clearly coaching was the difference.
20 in KenPom, 18 in Net, after losing the entire starting 5 from last year. Obviously, we have a problem with coaching and need a change.

I'm in for a couple shirts. Effing Brilliant. I'm not even sad about it being backordered. That already tells you what a hit it is.

What a gracious family and community supporter.
