I could be alone on connecting-dots-that-aren't-there-island on this one but Dain's tweet really raises eyebrows for me about Sencire now.

As in, if there was a clear team mandate not to announce declarations of staying in Champaign on Twitter, why would Dainja so blatantly disregard that so quickly? Did he simply just get a little too overzealous with the old "Send Tweet" button or should this be raising some flags with regard to the actual reason Sencire pulled his post down?
Goode also announced he was coming back on the radio!

What would Epps be upset about? He had plenty of playing time?

Mad about getting yelled at? Did he never watch a Illini game before?
Exactly, we will never know unless Epps publicly says something. We have no idea. All these people just speculate it is BU's tough style. Could be he did not like playing the point, not getting enough shots, didn't like to have to guard people straight up and got schooled by older bigger guards, didn't like his teammates. Oh and Epps has not put his name in the portal yet, so as much guess work going on here as in the BU is gone coaching thread.

Guys with his knack for scoring are valuable. Early he seemed to have the calm and composed demeanor of a future closer. He faltered down the stretch but he had 16 ppg+ scorer a game written all over him. If he shored up his defense and got his 3pt % up over the next few years, that's potentially all big ten.
There are always plenty of guys with potential and scoring. They can be easily found in the portal as well.

He did say he was coming back and then deleted the tweet. People say he deleted the tweet bc the staff asked him to because they don’t want every player to feel like he has to tweet that he’s returning.
And yet Goode and Dainja did hmmmm

Would love some good news regarding Rodgers. Him and Hansberry are the dawgs we need. Morez the year after, LFG!!!
I wasn't thinking Rodgers was gone it was just the point guys like Rodgers are harder to replace than a guy who might be able to score and put up good numbers

Great question. I’m trying to imagine a fairy land where NIL and loyalty coexist. In that land, NIL deals follow a vested schedule just like a 401k. As months/semesters go by, more cut is yours. Unfortunately if we’re the only ones coming to the table with that model, we’ll have a roster full of 3 stars. (yes I know Giorgi was a 3 star)

But that brings up an interesting point. Would a recruit take $50k guaranteed over year 1, or $200k on a vested schedule that ends after year 2? Would donors and sponsors dig deeper into their pockets for this level of assurance? I have no frickin idea.
Maybe stick in a contingency along the lines of “the more you win, the more you make.”

I’m not going to weep over the loss of Epps. I was excited about his future here, but I was excited too for Mark Smith and Adam Miller. Neither of those transfers ruined us, and neither will Epps’. If he goes some where and becomes an All American, well, shame on me. But if he had the tantrum that he had this season, there’s no reason to believe that he would suddenly be able to click in the BU system next year. Nothing changes, next season is all about landing solid transfers and can BU make this team consistently function together. Regarding some, like Skyy and Jayden, less will probably end up being more.

Onward with those who are with us.

Losing Epps is a MAJOR MAJOR blow. Huge indictment on the Underwood regime. No two ways about it. That's a guy in three years that you an easily see as being one of those "Senior Guards you win with in March", making plays and knocking off some team with a great 7 footer.

Happy portal hunting, Brad.
Epps had a LOT to prove before you put him in the major blow category. Could he put the ball in the basket....the first half of the season, yes. However, he couldn't defend a lamp post. He couldn't stay in front of quick guards and he got pushed all over the place as against physical guards.

He had a good freshman season, not a great one. BU got on his case because he struggled on defense, he didn't make good decisions running the point and he didn't take care of the ball. Turnovers were a HUGE issue this past year. It has to be addressed. He's going to be recruited over by a transfer PG.

He played 25 MPG as a freshman. If that wasn't enough to stick around....see ya.

I mean 5/6 of the young guys are likely returning? That is pretty damn good for this day and age. Shannon and Coleman have a chance to come back too
Looks like level heads have prevailed, despite Sharp Shooter torching the board last week, and too many gullible folks falling for it.

I think we as fans (on this board at the very least) need to reevaluate what the phrase "major loss" truly means.

Some of it can only be done with hindsight, but with Brad in the position he is in (and Bret and Josh in their respective roles - maybe Shauna too) I would view these roster changes as an unfortunate loss that brings along a great opportunity.
Ramrod makes a sharp and hard-hitting point….

Instances like this make me think NIL will be regulated in the near future because this is a large sum of money and boosters are understandably pissed.
Good luck. If schools had their way students would still be only getting their scholly and a free meal or two.

The supreme court thought otherwise.
