I was sitting about 3 blocks away in the Edward Jones Dome, but as God is my witness, I thought Luther's 3 was going in that would have put us ahead late.

I have the game on DVD, but have never watched it once.

Even so, it was a great experience with my 14 year old son and my old college roommate and his 16 year old son.

I wish someone could post a list (or grid) of our players who will be back next year (including incoming freshmen and Moretti.)

In the past, college basketball was cyclical. You’d start building a team today that could compete as juniors and seniors 3-4 years from now. Most coaches (and fans) would be willing to have a bad year now in pursuit of a great year a few years from now.

Today, that’s almost impossible. 80-90% of the freshman you have now will gone by their Junior/Senior year.

So you can’t plan ahead. Instead, you’re forced to build individual teams year to year.

That’s hard enough, but the bigger problem is, when you don’t assemble the right team, there’s no pay off; you weren’t building towards anything.

I do not envy D1 head coaches right now.
I know women and men are different, but suggest analyzing aspects of Mulkey's LSU integration of players rapidly for a Championship.

It would be a great case study.

I don't think I will ever be able to watch it again.

My opinion here, but she’s like a top 3 women’s coach of all time. She has the knowledge/experience, the credentials to demand and receive buy-in, and the icing the cake, probably a little dash of extra passion to do it for her home state.

She’s clearly a competitor too, so she probably also really wanted to stick it to everybody who talked crap about her leaving Baylor.

Same here. It exists only as a distant memory, becoming more nebulous each passing day.

I think the Loyola loss made me sadder though. In 05, at least we could look back on a magical season and say we reached new heights and came up just short of the ultimate goal. We lost, but at least we made it. Loyola left me grieving for a season that was taken from us way too soon.

Cross off Lieb, RJ, Skyy, Epps, Perrin from the 2023-2024 column. Add Moretti. So 4 roster spots available. 3 if you include TSJ coming back.

I was in the delivery room watching as my son was born. The nurses had to tell us to keep it down after he was born....

Thanks for the grid, but that sure is a lot of "crossing off." And I'm wondering why Moretti's name is nowhere to be found.

It will be a short list. Even our walk-ons are transferring out. 😟

I think that would still leave one open scholarship.....

But turkeys can fly? Am I missing something here?

Refs calling ticky tac fouls on Augustine took that trophy away from us.....
Yeah, Sean May was allowed to plow through our defenders like a fullback, while Augie got whistled for touch fouls.

I can feel my blood pressure beginning to rise just thinking about it… 😡

As for the turkeys question, I suggest you check out the whole episode:

I feel your pain. Time and again, in the post, May simply lowered his shoulder and drove it into Augie's or the Rev's chest. I think more than that, the offensive player gets called for a charge when that happens. It just drove me crazy watching May get away with that. Not to mention the fact it prevented us from winning the nat'l title. I don't usually criticize refs (I was one for 12 yrs.), but in this case, my partner Dave and I would have whistled May for charging each time he tried to get away with that.

I have a DVD "A Season To Remember". Always hate the ending. Yes, Dee the best. And yes, I think anyone who watched that final could see May played like a tight end. Loss to Michigan in '89 was tough, too.
89 felt like we were beaten by a very good team that played slightly better than us that night. 2005 felt like the 8 we played against had predetermined the outcome.
