Sub out one of Kreutz or Slaughter for Zylon. He was one of the top JUCO OL as well and Miller has said he’s going to play the best 5. He’d be an ideal OG especially after Tank helps him trim up a bit.
I agree, OG for Zylon. Kreutz will have to play OC , ready or not, unless they pull an experienced OC off the portal that is.

I haven't heard any reports that Zylon Crisler is ready to play as a Big Ten OL, let alone start. The next game is just six and a half months away. If you're doubting Jordyn Slaughter's recovery from major surgery, I would think Alex Pihlstrom would be the most likely to take that spot.

Pihlstrom's a lock. He'd beaten out Jeresaty by the end of last year.

Pearl, Pihlstrom and Palcho (Killa P's!) are all nailed-on starters. You'd assume Adams is another one. Slaughter, Kreutz and Crisler are all probably in the mix, but I wouldn't count out Zach Barlev who the staff seems to like.

Pihlstrom and Jeresaty both started the first two games with Pearl replacing Jeresaty. But Badovinac beat out Pihlstrom for the final four or five games, so I'm not ready to call him, nor anyone but Palcho and Pearl, a lock to start next year. It definitely wouldn't surprise me if he started, though. He does have the experience from 2021 that Slaughter lacks, so maybe he is more likely to start than Slaughter.

And experience is invaluable on the offensive line. Even though Pihlstrom lost his starting spot early in the season, he was still a key rotational guy.

Adams (LT) Slaughter/Pihlstrom (LG) Kruetz? [Is he ready](C) Palcho (RG) Pearl (RT) is a respectable line.

The NCAA threw us a bone by giving us an extra year of Palcho. He may as well be consider that “impact grad-transfer” we’ve been hoping for.

Dan you spelled Indinia wrong (or at least how that hick /white trash fanbase spells it)

Not that it matters though because their dumb fans are too busy rooting for Notre Dame in football to even notice. There's a reason why Purdue fans call them "reversible jacket wearing " fans haha.

This is BB maximizing his national TV exposure.

I'm sure he's hoping/expecting to enter this game 3-0 with the #1 rushing offense and #1 overall defense in the Big 10 --- while ranked #23 in the AP Poll (as am I, of course).
agreed. A lot of smaller conference teams play Thursday to maximize exposure. I’m assuming we’ll be the only P5 team playing that day, so we should take all the coverage. We just can’t lose or the spotlight on us would be unbearable.

Agreed, I think this is really playing not our advantage. 2 prime time games where we are the only show on in the first 3 weeks and we get extra time to prep and heal for Wisconsin which is going to be a physical game.

This is garbage. A small conference move. Expect 25k attendance, max. I hate it.
Lol. Think big picture here, Extra time to prepare for Wisconsin, an extra chance to get out and hit the road recruiting in the fall(which is rare), BB knows what he is doing, another chance for national television exposure(which is big). All if this is calculated by BB, he is great at maximizing time and efficiency.

Big thanks 0440!
Thank heavens there’s a few insightful and informed voices, to drown out the perpetual negativity and ignorant bellows.

For sustainable program success, the culture has to drastically change. I think we’re seeing the first real attempt in decades. From a committed administration, to professional staff and dedicated personnel, the school and program are finally doing their part. Changing the culture of the Illini fan, a critical ingredient, will unfortunately prove a far more difficult task.

But winning does cure most. As the results improve, just like in basketball, the consistent naysayers will flip on a dime or retreat into the shadows.

From a big picture point-of-view, the Thursday night game makes sense, but as a Chicagoland season ticket holder, I am disappointed. My one concern is will the attendance be so bad that any recruit watching the game will see a lack of fan support and wonder if this is a place where he wants to play football

If we're 2-0 going in to that game I have full faith that the students will show up to a warm game with "high spirits" Thursday is the first day of the weekend for the student body. I am almost betting that we end up giving out free/cheap tickets for this game especially to local high schools.

All of this. And the staff can spread out and recruit that Friday night, too.
