Lol. Think big picture here, Extra time to prepare for Wisconsin, an extra chance to get out and hit the road recruiting in the fall(which is rare), BB knows what he is doing, another chance for national television exposure(which is big). All if this is calculated by BB, he is great at maximizing time and efficiency.
I am thinking big picture, and I don’t see how a nationally televised 60% empty stadium is beneficial. Thankfully, nobody but diehards and parents will tune in for this decidedly not-marquee matchup. It also will only add to the massive debt the DIA is servicing unless the school gets extra TV money to make up for the tickets that won’t be sold (I doubt it).

If BB wanted more time to prep for Wisconsin, Whitman should have moved this game to a bye week. There are reasons why P5 teams don’t play on Thursday nights, other than maybe Week 1.

Hasn't that been all of our recent home games?

What? Are you under the impression that he calls those shots?

This is all good. Do you think the stadium will be less full than on a Saturday? Recruits come to Saturday games too and those are also on tv. For a night game in September, especially if we’re 3-0, we’ll have a good crowd. The only downside would be if we lost to them - highly unlikely. So my conclusion is this is all good. Assuming we win handily and are on our way to 3-1 or 4-0, the announcers will gush all game about the program BB is building.

I don't mind the move to Thursday at all. Like some have said I love the publicity. We will draw a lot more attention to the program being on National TV than drawing some more fans into the building....fine if you don't agree but is the truth.

Illinois has a Bye week, Chattanooga and at Wisconsin

Wisconsin has New Mexico St and AT OHIO ST the week before us. Hopefully we can be the letdown game for the Badgers and they are still beat up from the week before. Not hurt if we come out fresh and control the line.

What are our ratings for the BTN matchups? Looking at Thursday Night ratings on ESPN they range from 600k-1M.

Playing Chattanooga isn't going to be an eye popping viewing crowd no matter what network it is on. Getting on ESPN, FS1, ABC, etc is a ton more exposure than the BTN. Not expecting crazy numbers because of the matchup but I see a ton more exposure nationally moving this game to Thursday. Won't hurt seeing some Illinois football highlights on ESPN, Fox Sports, etc on Thursday night and Friday morning when probably wouldn't get that with Saturday game vs Chattanooga. Hopefully a few more recruits can catch the game as well.

First game on BTN vs UTSA probably was just over 200k

Last game on BTN vs Northwestern was under 150k

When does Spring practice start? I know the game is April 21st, just don't see when they start.
