Apropos of nothing, I love how poorly this SB Nation article has aged

Has anybody reminded him of the article? Would love to hear his opinion now.

And we aren’t even technically established as a “good” program yet (in the eyes of doubters)…maybe 3-4 consistent years and even they will have to recognize.

But the direction even that season went, not to mention last year, is just the exact opposite of his matter-of-fact opinion.

he could still be right. Maybe Ryan Walters was the reason for Illinois success.......guess we'll find out

I don't remember this ever happening before!
What a great tradition to start off!
And did you folks notice the build on some of these P5 football players?
This is going to be a great ILLINI football season!
the audio was off a little off
I just wish there were subtitles with names of players, the class they are in , and former high school they attended
I could not make out most of them

we have what I think is probably the best coach for our program that was available in the past 10 - 15 years - given our standing in the college football world .

guys like Lincoln Riley were not going to give us a thought .
I agree with this. I didn't at the time, but there's no mistaking that he's doing the work and living the values he speaks of. He's building the program I've long wanted.

This board has already grown comfortable almost automatically believing that 'this' season is going to be a bowl season, that 6-6 may be slightly disappointing. How I have yearned for a reliable bowl team!

I think we've got a shot at the West, but a lot of things have to fall right the right way (of course). Still, Josh has me happier about our coaching staffs than I ever have been. That's not something I ever want to take for granted.

Given the past 25 years, these are the good times.

I'm good friends with the guy who wrote the article.

Trust me, he's estatic to be proven wrong.
I don’t doubt his loyalty bona fides. He was writing about the Illini during an offseason in which the rest of the world had given the program up for dead.

Regarding the OTE article the writer is an Illinois fan. The website itself is not to be taken too seriously as the writers will make fun of other teams as well as their own.

They also gave the world this absolute gem
Thumpasaurus is the wittiest and perhaps the hardest working of the Off-Tackle Empire "writers." And he's all ours. Check out the site for interesting, irreverent banter among Big 10 football fans. Also, f*** Michigan.

Ok, I may have a window opening to attend the Penn State game. What’s the best strategy for buying tickets? If I’m going I want decent seats at least between the 20’s. I haven’t been for several years. Can you still find them outside the stadium pregame or has that gone away with digital tickets?

there are ticket brokers on line or use stub hub / seat geek

few , if any , let alone decent seats ever sold on the street anymore
those days are over

We're getting a small amount of love from the Wolverines Wire: https://sports.yahoo.com/predicting-every-big-ten-team-020307484.html

Joel Goodson

ties will be resolved
We haven't seen him play yet, but am getting a good vibe from Daxon. Looks like another under the radar find by our staff. Ultimately, the coaches make the call, but the recruiting staff deserves a lot of credit. Kids like Resetich and Hollinger come to mind, along with Daxon.
