Can someone who understands how this stuff works explain why a team would sign a training camp invitee and then waive him like 3 days later? I know these are non-guaranteed deals and guys get signed and waived like crazy at the lower end of the roster, but I still don't see the point.Looks like Hill got waived today. The Exhibit 10 deals these guys are signed to also feature bonuses of between $5,000 and $50,000 that kick in if the player is waived and they report to the team’s G League affiliate for at least 60 days. It's a way for the team to encourage a player they don't currently want to sign to an NBA contract to instead play for the team's G-League affiliate, which has to pay a standard G-League salary (I believe it's currently just $7,000/month).

I think the Exhibit 10 guaranteed that Giorgi would be waived. He'll get a bonus for signing with the affiliate G League team. I really hope he can do well in the G League and get some time called up. It's a long season and there are bound to be injuries.
