I'm impressed by Ayo's high petcentage on 3's and ability to finish lay-ups in traffic. He gave up 2-3 drives he could of finished for passes to teammates. I'm sure he is well liked in the locker room, very unselfish player.

I dont know enough of contracts but wonder if Bulls lock him in an additional year for much more. I'm not sure if Ayo should lock himself to far in the future.

Now that highlight video looks like the Ayo I knew and loved as an Illini for 3 years. Looked like a lightning quick slasher.

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Let's now get Malcolm 20 min/game and go on a little 10-game win streak!)

This is actually wild - didn't know he was #1. He's taken 63 on the season too which is a pretty decent sample size
The threat he presents on the Bulls that way is quite similar to what Jacob Grandison does for the Illini now. The stars are such a riddle for opposing defenses they end up playing too far off and letting this relatively low & slow release guy stroke wide open threes.

And then Ayo adds the complication of killing loose close-outs.

Demar coming to Champaign for banner night is a pretty good marker of how Ayo is revered on that team.

Just watched a replay. Real nice debut for Malcolm. Think he earned a second 10 day contract off of that. Sure hope so.

Obviously, another strong game for Ayo. Love how he continues to raise his game.

I think he absolutely does, and when this all shakes out I really hope he gets a G League invite to the Windy City Bulls.

Interesting that 3 point shooting was Ayo's "weakness" prior to last year.

He even shoots it a little like Grandison in the sense that he doesn't jump much.

I peeked at a recent NBA mock draft. (I realize there are dozens out there.) Kofi at #89. Curbelo was still in the 60's.

What are the odds we get Kofi back for a 4th year in 2022-23? How much would the European Leagues pay him?

I'm so glad I paid the $ for The Athletic. It's nice to read actual journalism versus hot-take, clickbait articles.

To any Loyalty brethren that would like to give it a shot free for 30 days, send me a message, and I'll shoot you a code.
  • I am not compensated in any fashion when someone uses the code
  • I have 5 available
  • As is typical with free trials, you'll need to cancel your trial prior to the 30 day mark, or you'll be charged (easy to do in account settings)

I second this. Per your recommendation, I signed up for the Athletic. At the time, it was only $1 per month for 12 months. Seems they post an Ayo article weekly… Pretty sure the Illini fan base is making any journalist that writes about Ayo wealthy(at least in terms of clicks).

I joined at that price a year ago. It went up on me this year and I still kept it. Their coverage just generally can't be beat.

Anyone got numbers on these 2 way contracts? Like does he still make decent money if he doesn't get called up from the G league? And how does the payout work if he splits time between both leagues? Just curious
It's good money. Apparently 50% of league minimum, so like $450k (he probably only gets the pro rata portion for the rest of the season). Unlike regular G league players on 10 day deals, it doesn't appear that salary is altered based on amount of games played.

in need of a pick me up after the Purdue game? Ayo starting again, currently matched up with Morant...... I-L-L

Gonna need a another heroic effort from Ayo to keep it close. Also there are some selfish players on the bulls, probably why Ayo stands out and Demar/Zach are so supportive of the rook.
