This is the most excited I've ever been for an Illinois women's basketball season. We bring back all our key contributors and have added some much-needed height and depth. We have a massive opportunity to do something special. I can't wait for the season to start.
Gotta get over to see a few games. No excuse with the prices and being an hour away. Should be a no brainer for locals.

this staff knows what they're doing, big time, and are pretty relentless recruiters. if they hit on a decent percentage of their targets, look out. FWLIW, I'm betting they will

Shauna is building juggernaut. B10 WBB is tough but we will be making the conference even better.

2023 tourney seeds
#1 Indiana
#2 Maryland
#2 Iowa
#3 Ohio State
#6 Michigan
#11 Purdue
#11 Illinois

I did say she would commit in September. Didn't have a great feeling about it for the past month or two. I was in Peoria this past weekend

Remind me what happened with her dad going to Indiana. Was that the year that Lou left or did Knight just beat us in that recruitment?

Lou's last season was 1996. We finished 18-13 and went to NIT. Indiana won B10 same year.

Losing AJ's daughter is tought but not unexpected. Iowa lost in Nat Championship game. We were in first four playin game.

Shauna had a phenomenal year 1 but Iowa is consistently top 10

Iowa WBB #2, #5, #2 and #2 seed in past 4 years.

#21 in The Athletic's pre-season ranking ($):
"In Shauna Green’s first year, Illinois put together one of the most impressive year-over-year turnarounds in women’s college hoops. Now in Year 2, with all five starters returning, the Illini are a dangerous top-25 team in a conference that could prepare them for a deeper postseason run.

Last year, lack of depth hurt the Illini, especially as the season wore on, but with another full season of recruiting (and transfer portal recruiting), Illinois could prove to be a deeper team. Illinois’ top six will look the same but the two key additions — Camille Hobby and Gretchen Dolan — could be big difference makers.

Hobby comes to Illinois from NC State, where she averaged eight points and four rebounds a game as a senior. As a 6-3 center, she gives the Illini more depth in the paint alongside Kendall Bostic and Brynn Shoup-Hill. Dolan, a freshman, averaged 39 points a game as a senior and ended her high school career with 2,622 points. To bring Hobby, Jada Peebles and Dolan off the bench should give Green the kind of depth and fresh legs she didn’t have last season."

Huh?? No mention of Shay Bollin or Cori Allen. Not to minimize the impact of Hobby and Dolan, but Bollin, much higher rated out of high school than anyone on the Illini roster, was hampered by injuries last year, and Cori Allen might be the highest rated freshman recruited by Illinois in recent memory.

I agree that Bollin might have the biggest impact of all the new kids----if she's healthy. IIRC she missed the last two years of high school ball due to injuries and only played sparingly the following year for N.C. State.

I think you mean Duke.

Bollin in HS pre injury- great size and shooting ability.

Did nothing at Duke - maybe still recovering from injury. Hopefully fresh start and another year of recovery means she can play 20 mpg for us helping our size and offense!
