If #25 Williams got breathed on ... "foul". On the other end, both KB & Hobby received A LOT of contact going to the rim, but they were expected to play through it.
Agree somewhat, but Williams was pretty incredible; made Hobby especially, and Bostic look slow, blocked their shots, swatted away our guards shots, pulled down offensive rebounds, and was almost unstoppable.

Like I said, there are going to be games where it goes for and against us. It all evens out over a season. My reference was for the season in general not just one game.

This isn't the first game where Cook/Bryant shoot close to 25-35 times a game and barely hit the line. There are adjustments in different aspects I mentioned in previous post that haven't changed since last season. Think it has more to do with the personnel than not trying to make adjustments.

I love Bostic. Her footwork on offense is good, she looks very average at times against quicker offensive players playing D. All strategy and footwork speed. If opponent big can shoot from outside, draw Bostic away from the basket and opponent can crash the boards for example.

We have landed in the hotbed of B1G Ten basketball. Still riding high from the big win over Purdue, I am sure Cornhusker fans will turn out to cheer on the 11-4 WBB team. In conference they have road wins over Michigan State and Wisconsin and a home win over Maryland. Indiana came in and had a 20 + point victory. So who knows, as we do seem to play better on the road.

Jaz Shelley and Alexis Markowski still provide the inside out punch but they also have a very good freshman
in forward, Natalie Potts who has earned several Freshman of the Week honors. This will be a challenge.
Last year we split the two games with both teams winning on the road.

Let's GO Illini!!

I had such high hopes for Illini WBB this season.

Hopefull Shauna can turn it around in 2nd half of season.

JMO
- we don't pass or defend as well as most B10 teams
- we are still undersized
- our effort level seems lower than last year. Watching Indiana game I saw players jogging back on defense while other team was fast breaking
- our shooting is much worse (why?)

If we are going to stink and not try hard then I vote we play the freshman.

Not sure about Dolan. The kid averaged over 38 points per game as a h.s. senior but she has shown very little here. Shooting slash .28/.13/.91. Still, she at least shoots the ball which is more than a couple of our upper-class kids will do.

We're not only undersized, but we...look...slow. It's usually one or the other.

Agree with the posts from today. We caught some teams off balance last season because our team speed was faster than it had been in the past. Problem is our team speed is still average and not many adjustments have been made since last season. Opponents have looked at the tape and know our weaknesses and are exploiting them "To a T."

I look for more players to get playing time as the season goes on. This team isn't making the NCAA Tournament unless they win the BT Conference Tourney at the end of the season.

We are undersized and look slow. Might have some bigger bodies coming in next season but will need to work the transfer portal in the offseason. We will have to see who all comes back, transfers out, etc. Still very excited about the future.....

BRucks-I would like to see more of Dolan. She is one of those players where you just see flashes of what she can do so far. If she was averaging 20 minutes a game for the season I would be worried about the numbers. Majority of her minutes came in non-conference play. I would like to see her start getting at least 8-10 minutes a game and hopefully go up. Outside of the starters, I would love to see her in the rotation with Hobby and Peebles sooner than later.

rough first 8 min: down 18-4 with 5 TOs. Great last 2 min (3 3's). down 18-13 after first.

Again lazy, lack of effort and bad game management. Maybe loss of an assistant coach hurts more than we know. One minute left in the game, we have 4 timeouts and the ball. We are totally lost and never set up a play, stand around and dribble. The clock is running and we need to score coach! Any coach want to call a timeout or wait until we go down 5? We turn the ball over and go down five, BAD choice. Down five we then get Cook a layup that she missed. Instead of her playing urgent, now she turned and walked away from the player with the ball. We need a coach not afraid of the star player to tell her to get her lazy butt after the ball. Especially when she had another night of 6 turnovers and 3 of 10 shooting.

Bryant, Cook, McKenzie 6 for 26 shooting. Team at 34%, 17 TO to 13 Assist. When you lose this many games by a small 6 or 7 points it is time to change something. We do the same thing over and over and too small t make up for it shooting and turning the ball over.

Tip of cap to Shoop-Hill and Peebles for good effort and playing some D. Something wrong with this team that it has taken these two fine players so long to play well.

Cook is not playing like a first team Big Ten Player. And our shooting is bad! I don't see things turning around. Hope I'm wrong.

Bad BB team right now. Haven't beaten a single high major team all season. SG needs a shakeup in starters/rotation. If you are going to be bad you have to be bad and young. Bad and old is really stupid.

Cornhuskers missing so many bunnies kept us in the game in spite of our poor shooting. They scored 20 pts. off our TO’s and beat us on the glass by 16. At the end of first half we made the pass to the open shooter and hit three 3’s in a row. Not so much in the second half. I hope this game helps Brynn settle in. Maybe Kam will be willing to facilitate a little more. 48 points will not get it done.

It really is rinse and repeat just a different night

Got killed on the offensive boards tonight. Illinois had 1 offensive board, Nebraska had double digits. Same thing as usual, we need to crash the boards more often as we are an average shooting team. Way too many times on D our ladies don't check anyone out. I saw one of the Nebraska players that was shorter than Bostic check her out and keep her in check on a random play. If you check out and don't get the rebound there is at least a chance of getting over the back call.

Illinois tries to keep fronting in the post with either no help or late help arriving. Also, the opposing player is catching the ball around 3 feet or less from the hoop and setup for layups.

vs Wisconsin guards Cook and Bryant took a combined 30 FG attempts and 2 FT attempts
vs Nebraska guards Cook and Bryant took a combined 25 FG attempts and 2 FT attempts

Bryant played exceptionally well early in the schedule when Cook was out. Cook comes back, and now Bryant has regressed. Wonder about the chemistry....

Not saying we will but there is a chance we have all 5 starters back next season or at least most of them.

The non-conference schedule is night and day different from last season. It almost feels like this should be the first season results and vice versa from last season. Winning has growing pains.....this team looks real sloppy but I am encouraged we are in most games.

Green has brought some decent recruits in and has experienced starters. We have some top 100 recruits on the bench who don't sniff playing time. I look for the bench to get opened up more as the season goes on. Slowly with Dolan, than Bollin, etc. I am big on Berry Wallace for next season. Never know how fast the game is for incoming players(as we have seen both seasons). Main difference for next season is if we have a nice blend of vets/youngsters than we need more experience through the transfer portal. We added some nice recruits/transfers this past offseason but Hobby was the only proven player with playing time that was ready to be thrown into the mix day 1.

Good effort but ran out of steam in last 5 minutes.

Shauna has to play her bench more.

JMO - If starters are too tired to play defense or hustle then they should be resting on bench.

Also too much hero ball, going 1 on 5. Shauna needs to force team to run the offense. Other teams get open 3's, backdoor layups. Illinois does not. Our fundamentals are poor.

With our lack of size Shauna could mix in zone once in a while.

I'm just now getting around to watching the Illini women's game against nebby and I just started the third quarter and the black female ref HAS to be related to d j bald head ref , as she is as inept an official as he is...........when the announcers constantly say " I don't know about that call " on most of this ref's call , then it's pretty obvious what's going on.........

The women had a great 2nd quarter with plenty of 3's finding the bucket and stirring memories of last year's team.......

BTW , there is no doubt in my mind that Genesis B. is the MVP of this year's squad................

Now back to the replay and probably a lot more of said ref's inept calls..............JMHO

Just witnessed the almost non call on nebby of over and back of the halfcourt line when coach Green literally lost it....you could read her lips saying " how could you NOT see that ".......they finally got the call right but , how in the hell didn't they get it right the first time.........

That ball was NOWHERE near being touched by the Illini, and for the official to make the touch / deflection signal was borderline criminal. I don't recall Shauna being T'd up yet in her time here, but that call would have been good reason to get her first technical if it had not been overturned.

The foul called on Gen when she cleanly blocked the nebby shot from behind was also terrible.....the announcers even said " where's the foul "............
That was a winnable game , but this year has been so puzzling why they are now 6-8 for the year...........JMHO..

With all 5 starters returning it might be difficult to bring in anyone from the portal. Although we will have plenty of minutes available for a Big or 2. We have to get some help in the post and I don't see that coming from anyone on our current roster.
