Nobody faults Bostics effort. She is a very good rebounder.

Illinois needs an elite post person who can score 20 ppg in the paint. See Holmes at Indiana. This will create open 3 point opportunities for our guards.

Might be unpopular, but I also think that Illinois will be a middle-of-the-Big Ten program if both Cook and Bryant return. Good players but don’t think you can change their games at this time point. It was almost like it was pre-determined that they would take the majority of shots at the beginning of the season and that was never reconsidered regardless of the circumstances. I would hate to lose Allen or any other young player because they won’t play for another season. Illinois has made great progress under Green but getting to the next level of the Big 10 will take some risks. First things first, beat Maryland!

3 point shooting is nice but we really need interior defense and rebounding. We lose Hobby who gave us both for 20 minutes a game.
I was glad to see Shay scoring in in paint couple times vs. Nebraska. She is wasted on offense standing around at 3 point line all the time.
Hopefully she can contribute enough to play 15-20 minutes per game in BTT. A strong bench is important when you place back to back to back.

Great article on Shay Bollin from 247sports.com

Yeah this was a good article. I think a big part of getting her footing was mental this season. Bought into the system, believed in herself and not worried about past injuries. Random member or two on here wrote her off. Some people look at the stat lines, some people watch the games.

Bollin beat out Shoup-Hill because she has a more well rounded game. Shoup-Hill had to play last season due to depth(she did fine) and shot 40% from 3 pt range. That didn't translate to this season. Bollin has a nice stroke from outside but she offers more of a balanced attack.

Can you imagine next year lineup pre-transfer portal

Bostic 6'2"
Wallace 6'1"
Bollin 6'3"
Cook 5'6"
Bryant 5'6"

Dolan 5'10" first off bench

100% no chance pre-transfer portal

Do you have McKenzie second off bench or transferring?
I was gonna ask. I may get killed for saying this, but I kinda hope Cook moves on after this season. I'd like to see Dolan in the starting lineup with the following (barring a high-impact transfer joining us):

Bostic
Wallace
McKenzie
Dolan
Bryant

Bollin would be a quality piece off the bench, as would Allen. But this team needs some impact transfers in the worst way.

Not going to rip you at all. Everyone wants this team to get better. The only problem I have is when people criticize this group when this group of players has brought the program out of the dumpster. My guess is the few that only criticize this group watched very few games before Shauna Green arrived(not saying you just in general).

Green is building a good program and just takes time to build this thing from zero to hero. There will be some change this offseason even if a number of ladies come back.

Just with the pre-transfer portal lineups mentioned above in a few posts.....transfer portal opens in 11 days ;)

Bummer for UMD that they’ve had so many injuries, but man is it nice to have an advantage inside. Hobby and KB are making the most of it. UMD is probably gonna go to their press and really trap coming out of the timeout. It's killed us every time we've played them. Gen and Makira need to avoid turnovers and getting stuck in the corners.

Glad the announcers finally got back to actually announcing the game. I was getting sick of them talking about everything but
