Love the fight of the ladies

Announcer called them fearless and I agree

ok Maryland is clearly a better team right now. They look like a #1 seed NCAA team. I think the BIG girls have 2 #1 seeds.. if our shots were falling I think it would be a 3-4 point game right now. Instead its 13 and Maryland threaten to blow this open like it did in the 4th Q of their last meeting.

Not throwing it away like last time…but it’s taking us out of our offense

After seeing all the favorites win today, there is no way the twerps are going to lose this game, by hook or by crook. But then, this is just the kind of game than an Fighting Illini team rises to the occasion for the monumental upset.

We have no answer for their size on either end. They have like 3”-6” at every position. Just passing and rebounding right over top of us. 😳

Frese has the Terps rolling at the right time. They are going to be a real tough out in the tourney. Fight in the second half and hopefully some of our shots will start to fall.

I'm going to call a little too much hero ball from Bryant and Cook. Need more passing.

A few observations from the game:
- We lost by 11 at Maryland and 15 tonight.
- Much better job handling the press this time around.
- However, the Terps length and strength really disrupted half court offense.
- Yes there were times when Sam was wide open along the baseline
and instead of passing to her the guards tried to drive the ball into the paint.
Hoping they will start to gain more confidence in her ability to score.
- We really missed Jayla and Brynn. Tired legs by the fourth quarter.
- Only out-rebounded by 1 on the OR and by 3 for total boards.

Hoping they can notch a win or two in the NCAA's. Great experience and
they deserve an invitation. On the other hand the WNIT might give them home games
along with the tournament experience.

In any event it has been one enjoyable season and there is still the opportunity
to accomplish more before it draws to a close.

Thank you Fighting Illini!!

Busting your chops in good fun....NIT? No team wants to play in NIT over NCAA Tourney

I am sure a ton of experts have Illinois in the 8-11 seed area. It really won't matter if it is a 7-10 or 8-9 matchup as they are toss up games. Hoping for a 10 seed but guessing we will be a 9 seed. Mainly hoping for the 10 seed because if we win our first game we avoid playing a 1 seed in the next round. Let's be honest, it is South Carolina (heavy favorite) and maybe a few other teams at most that have a legitimate shot to win this year.

Definitely agree with the enjoyable season (y):illinois:

I would rather lose a NCAA Tournament game by 30 than win the NIT. Just hearing your name called on Selection Sunday is what the season is all about.

Ok, we now have the right coach and she has seen what it takes to win in the BiG in terms of talent, length, playing styles on both O and D.

It will take 2 or 3 years, but I love the trajectory and the culture.

So, no matter what happens in the NCAA, great job by coaches and team.

👍👏Congratulations.

Out of the fourteen teams, only the Hawkeye, Badger and Gopher fans had to be happy with the Minneapolis site for the tournament. Well you could also add this loyal Illini fan who could not believe her favorite team would be playing in the Twin Cities. No better women's basketball fans in the world than those in Iowa. I have the championship trophy with my Gram's name engraved on it from the 1915 YWCA state tourney. They were not shooting at peach baskets but the backboards were wooden. Might have taken more skill to kiss the ball in. LOL.

As I know you could tell on TV the Hawkeye fans took over the arena. Plenty of them stuck around to cheer for our team. It will be interesting to see how the Terps handle all the black and gold in the seats. The Iowa team did not fare well out at College Park. Heading back to watch the Clark vs. Miller match-up. Really enjoyed seeing Miller play in person. She makes the game look so effortless. She travels a lot under the basket but she is so smooth the refs don't see it?

Then on to Selection Sunday. My neighbor was on the Harvard team that became the first 16 seed to knock off a 1 seed at Stanford. It will always be one of my favorite WBB games. It was not until Virginia lost in the first round that another team
accomplished this feat. Looking forward to watching the celebration when the team hears their name called.

Once An Illini Always An Illini

P.S. There was a spot with cardboard cutouts of team mascots where you could have your photo taken.
Nothing for the Illini of course but a large I. Thank heavens there was not Kingfisher in attendance. Don' t get me started.
