The game for Rutgers revolves around Kaylene Smikle. Only clear cut offensive weapon for them and if you limit her or keep her off the court than we are fine.

Illinois was up 20-16 and got a quick 2nd foul on Kaylene Smikle with around 7:30 minutes left in 2nd quarter. She came out and Illinois went up 29-18 and Smikle had to come back in with 5+ minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Limit her ability to score, checkout on the boards and put this game in cruise control.

No matter what happens between this year and next year putting a body into someone for a checkout on the boards is necessary not optional. Give up way to many boards when our defenders are out of position. Stop tapping the ball and grab it!

So when was last time both the Men and Women's BB teams had at least 20 wins in the same season?

Yep. Kruger was here 4 seasons and had 20+ wins in 3 of the 4 seasons. Men/Women had 20+ wins in 3 of those 4 seasons together.

I would love to get Gen and Cook some rest in the 4th quarter. Maryland will be real tough tomorrow, but we beat them 3 out of 4 quarters when we played them at their house. It was just that disastrous 3rd where they relentlessly pressed and trapped us to death. That won't work as well now that we have Gen back. And they had no answers for Makira once we got into our half-court set.

This women's team looks really good. Solid fundamentals and a lot of energy and drive. Just good BB. (Of course they turn it over while I am typing that.)

Trading baskets at worst. Shauna Green is rotating pieces in and out to save energy for tomorrow. If we can trade baskets with Dewey and Lopes in the post we are fine.

Maryland is a complete beast with 3 days of rest. This is the best case scenario working out tonight...whether that translates tomorrow or not the gameplan is working to perfection.

We had Shoup-Hill but no Genesis the first time against Maryland, reverse tomorrow

I’ll bet Shauna’s ‘ll have ‘em coached up on
on press breakers/press offense this go around…I just hope they don’t come out dead tired…

Obviously, that hurts our energy on
defense. And, we don’t need tired legs under us when we’re shooting. Maybe it won’t be too bad.
