Great first season under Green. We need to get some length and height in the portal and take another shot next year.. Excited to not see our girl in the first 4 next year. Take this year as a big step forward and learn from it.

I refuse to let my disappointment over this game—though yeah, I’m pretty disappointed—cloud my view of this season. It has inarguably been a massive success.

Coach Green and the women exceeded all expectations. Going in, I hoped we’d win a few conference games. Maybe see a little bit of a rise in attendance. Considering where we’ve been, that would have been huge. Instead, the team became must-see viewing and I planned my schedule around their games. And then, last Sunday we heard our names called for the first time in 20 years.

No, it hasn’t ended the way we wanted, but the future is finally so darn bright for our women's program. We have a coach that knows how to win. We bring back basically our entire roster, which includes almost certainly a pre-season All-American, along with three all-conference performers. We have two talented recruits coming in. We now have NCAA experience. If we can just bring in a transfer big in the portal, it's not unreasonable to think we could compete for a conference championship.

The rebuild has happened faster than we could have ever expected. I can't wait to see what happens next season. When was the last time any of us thought that?

This 2nd half blew chunks but the future is bright for next year and beyond. We really need to find a quality transfer big for next season. So many killer missed rebounds with Bostic unable to go full speed tonight.

Every journey starts with the first step....after 20 years we are back on the path and I will be supporting the Illini Ladies on their way to respectability....feels great to not be the laughstock of the B$G......
Yeah…I’m very proud of this team. They have infectious camaraderie and spirit.
They’re very likable!

I wish for their sake they could of danced a little longer…it’s corny as hell…
but it’s not March Sadness for me. It’s March Gladness…glad we got Shauna…and glad for what the staff and this team where able to accomplish in one year. I think there will be many more.

Felt like a game we could’ve won but just played awful in the second half. I believe we return all of our starters next year though so plenty to build off of, especially if Green can pull in a quality transfer or two. Do we have any big time recruits coming in?

On the game....we had a super cold 3rd quarter and they ran over us.

Outrebounded us in the game 47-28. MSU attacked the boards from all 5 positions as all the starters had 5 rebounds or more.
Post players Carter 6'5" and Powe 6'1" combined for only 4 offensive boards. The perimeter players Jordan 5'9", Smith 5'9" and Hayes 5'7" had 8 offensive boards alone. If you told me we get outrebounded by 19 and Shoup-Hill and Bostic combined for 2 points I would think we lose by 30+.

Super proud of the Illini ladies this season!!!! It was a year of substantial growth and time to continue it into next season. Identity of this team is playing with heart and ton of fight and couldn't have asked for more than what they gave. :illinois:

Not sure about the whole class, but we do have one 5'11" recruit from NY state who averages over 40ppg and has had several 50+ pt games this year. Apparently her mother is a former teammate of Coach Green.

Great season! Far exceeds all expectations.

The second signed recruit is 5’10” guard Cori Allen, rated a 5 star recruit and as high as #13 in the class. Impossible to not be excited by the future of women’s basketball at illinois.

Now that Coach Green has some success to sell, with top rated facilities, the future is bright!

You've got that right, oldman!

If 20+ wins and a NCAA Tourney invite would have been predicted before the season started we would have all been over the moon. A great season by any measure. We need a good big and another ballhandler in the Portal. Great season ladies and coach Green!!
