I LOVE Shay's game! Would be a GREAT fit with the the way they play; probably better then Geyton.

I'm hoping we're after in a BIG way...
Shay or Guyton are a win-win situation no matter who we land

I could be wrong but if we don't land Guyton I think it is almost certain she stays in the Big 10, Shay not so much. Good problems to have :ROFLMAO:

Amiah Hargrove to Nebraska. No.2 player in IL. Seemed like a big Illini lean; we were her first high major offer- although that might have been from the previous staff. Love to know who backed off who.

She deleted her Illini social media right about the time Berry Wallace, a 6’1” top 40 wing, committed.

Hargrove is a good player. Not sure if it was you but someone on here keeps mentioning Hargrove because they watched her in person. Never know how it plays out but Berry Wallace was the better option. Hargrove has a chance to be real good but I don't view her as the #2 player in IL. Berry is legit top 30 range player in the nation.

I am hoping Guyton will be wearing orange and blue instead of red

Yes, it was me. Looking forward to watching them square off against each other twice a year.

Was really impressed with South Carolina, LSU, Ohio State bigs.

6'6" athletic centers who could rebound, score inside and block shots

Iowa looked like midgets trying to stop these bigs inside. Cinzano is 6'3".

Illini only had one big starter - Bostic at 6'3". I was happy to see us add 2 transfer bigs - Hobby NC State 6'3" , Bollin Duke 6'3" and a 2024 Smith 6'6"

Actually, the only 6'3" starter for the Illini last year was Brynn Shoup-Hill, who was injured and missed most of the end of the season. She came back for the tournament but was clearly not 100%. She has a nice 3 point shot and should be a big part of the offense in the upcoming year.

Bostic may have been listed at 6'3", but she isn't that tall. She is currently listed at 6'2". If she is 6'1" the measurement is generous. That doesn't take away from her effectiveness, rather it makes her play all the more impressive.

Hobby and Bollin should lead to major changes in the way Green handles game strategy. Really looking forward to it.

Agreed on Bostic's height. Hobby and Bolin will help directly and also indirectly. Bostic was hampered on defense last year because she knew that she was our only viable option at the 5. Consequently, she often backed off on defense in order to avoid fouls. She is a vergygood shot blocker but often times chose to let her player shoot rather than contest the shot.

Some very good points made about post players/play between last season and this upcoming season. Hobby is the big proven addition and Bolin unproven but talented. Bostic is solid, Shoup-Hill had a breakout season for playing time but needs to stay out of foul trouble. Might have averaged 5 points and 5 rebounds at times along with 4 fouls a ton of games. We need health again because if one of them goes down for any period of time we don't have depth in the post. Deep Wildcard would be if Aicha Ndour could fill in and play spot minutes in random games. I think she moves real well for 6'6".

Samantha Dewey, a legitimate 6’2”, saw a lot of playing time at the end of the season and acquitted herself well. After a year of acclimating herself to the speed of the college game she should be able to provide Green with quality minutes if one of the frontline players is not available for any reason. Having watched Ndour last year I don’t see her providing much help beyond spot, emergency minutes.

It only makes this team stronger if Dewey can play some minutes next season. Offensively I think she is up to speed, defensively her foot speed was real slow. Green said she knows the strengths and weaknesses to work on this offseason for the players so hopefully Dewey can take that next step.

Dewey, Lopes and Ndour each saw an uptick in minutes the last week or two because Shoup-Hill was injured and they were playing 5'10" McKenzie at the 4 spot.

Ndour has bad wheels. Regardless of skill set she can't physically provide more than spot minutes.

She is a big girl and 6'6"

Surely she can plant herself in lane, body the big centers from MD and OSU, and grab some defensive rebounds.

Think we all agree Ndour is a down the bench player. Hopefully she can come in once we are up with all those double digit leads ;)

I would love to see an Illini WBB conference champs. I don't think we have ever won it.

Conference is a beast - Indiana, Ohio State, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan etc.

That’s very generous isn’t it? Or am I wrong about that?

Edit: oops…strike that…I didn’t
see oldman’s post now. I didn’t scroll back far enough.
