Illinois 20, Maryland 17 Postgame

If Illinois makes a bowl, that 3 and out from the defense in the late 3rd quarter when Maryland got the punt inside the Illini 45 might be the season’s defining moment. Forcing Maryland to punt it back was enormous. Big moment for a defense that has been behind the 8 ball a lot this season.

Roger Cooper has done a HELL of a job! This defense wouldn’t have been able to contain Fremd high school a few weeks ago.

Big time hat tip. I don’t care who the opposition is. Giving up 27 points TOTAL in 2 games is extremely impressive.
Hope we find a way to keep him on staff. It's night and day difference of how well the players have responded

I give them a lot of credit for winning when they weren’t playing that well. Sometimes those are the most gratifying. As Illini fans, especially as one for over forty years, we know every conference win is precious, especially those on the road.

People call that an ugly win but I think it’s a thing of beauty. It’s the kind of game that year after year, for what seemed like decades, we would always lose. Now we finally have a coaching staff and a culture where I don’t feel like we’re doomed when in this situation.

A trick running play by Jordan Anderson with a heady kneedown led to an Illini treat of a game winning fg BY McC !!@#$% to gain another conference road game victory to the score of 20-17 .........

Houser playing was a surprise then the thrown interception left me shaking my head..............Great game rushing by the Illini with the 64 yard TD by Barnett a major momentum shift for the Illini.................

the D played very well in spurts and came alive at the right time to hold the twerps down ......

tough week for BB and so glad this victory will bring a little joy to him and his family..........WAY TO GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!......

If we can somehow sneak out 1 more win this season, it'll be a successful season. I didn't have very big expectations for this season and after losing Houser, I thought for sure the bowl possibility had passed us by. Glad we still have a shot.

Am I wrong to think Friday against Nebraska is our best chance at getting 1 more win this season?
1. NEB (easily our best chance on paper!)
2. @NW
3. Iowa
4. @UCLA

Refs were really trying to find a way to make us play the last second :ROFLMAO:

One more win.
It really seems to be a thing this season, trying to bring this last-second precision into the game, where it was never needed, feasible, or even wanted, before. Professional swimming records don't go beyond 0.01s precision because that equates to the tolerance of the pool dimensions across different pools. The tolerance of football "measurements", both time and distance, are so, so much wider. (Don't get me started on basketball, for which that is also true for the first 39 minutes)

Love. LOVE. Laughery and Anderson. But, BB, your stubbornness is unwarranted at this stage in the season. We need JB to help us get bowl eligible and potentially win multliple more games. IF he fumbles, it will be but a small setback. The upside is off the charts.

This team really seems to be getting it together at the right time. Gotta hand it to the defense, especially. After that absolute debacle and near-disaster against Michigan State, they've really tightened up to the point of suffocating the Oregon and Maryland offenses.

Nebraska is nowhere near as unbeatable as they looked just 2-3 weeks ago. Beat them, and we should basically have a bowl bid locked down.
