If the Illini keep this up... we'll have to permanently retire the, "It's tough to get road wins in the Big Ten" meme.

And that would break none of our hearts.

Does anyone have a breakdown of Illinois scoring by quarter? It seems to me that we usually do OK in the first ten minutes; we often have a scoring drought in the second ten minutes; we start to build up steam at the beginning of the second half, but we then just take complete control in the final ten minutes.

Is this just recency bias on my part, or do we really do a lot better when the game is on the line?

Grandison had a very tough start to the game, but Brad stuck with him. So happy to have Underwood coaching the Illini!

Grandison's two 3-pointers were obviously the big turning point in the game. Not only did they turn a 5-point deficit into a 1-point lead, but they came right on the heels of a dispiriting pair of air balls from Goode and Frazier.

The other incredible shot was Frazier's three after a clean pick of a hard one-hopper from Kofi!

Great team win in a hostile environment! Happy weekend, everyone!

I-L-L....
Grandi's D in the second half was top notch also.

1) Jake is cold blooded
2) loved the aggressiveness by DMFW off the dribble today
3) this team just doesn't rattle
4) Kofi - there's not enough superlatives to describe his impact. His defensive effort, especially in the second half, was just tremendous. He is a boulder rolling downhill on offense.
5) Trent is having a year that belongs up there with our all time greats at the PG position - not even an argument. Just facts.
6) Safe to say TJD can kiss B1G DPOY goodbye
7) I love this team

They actually seem pretty intelligent (except a few idiots) in their evaluation.
I read thru their forum. Early in the game there were a lot of “the refs suck” posts, but by the end it was “Illinois is just better”. Knowledgeable fan base fir the most part.

Here is what I saw today. Kofi with a single defender on him in the first half. We didn't feed him often enough or quickly enough. IU defense on the 3 pointer was stout. 2nd half Kofi double and triple teamed but got more touches. 3 pointers opened up and we took advantage. On a side note Kofi didn't attempt to dunk at all the while game. Coaches need to see things better and make changes to take advantage of them earlier. I believe we could have been up 8 at the half had Kofi been fed the ball more in the 1st half.

So proud of Damonte effort and aggressiveness on the offensive end last couple games! Makes a HUGE difference! Glad Trent got it going in the second half. Plummer also. Kofi getting more touched in the second half to me changed the game! Opened our entire offensive game up. Indiana defense was excellent in the first half. Our defense got better in the second half and brought us home with another ROAD KILL! I-L-L BABY

Trent: other than that air ball, he played a perfect game. What a player
Probably one of America's most underrated players. If he has a big game against Purdue, maybe another conference player of the week honor? Oh wait; that would be a different week. sorry about that.

I just got done reading the game thread. I’ve been trying not to post in (except at half) nor read it during the game. I was surprised to see multiple posts early in the second half during a rough stretch (probably about 5 minutes in or so) that the Illini were rattled and needed to gain their composure. I found it weird because I had full confidence team was going to win after about 2 minutes of second half.

I had posted at half I was concerned about the lack of offensive rebounding and the team needed to play more inspired in second half. Right out of the gate they had a possession with multiple O-rebounds (don’t think they even scored) and back to back possessions when Illini blocked shots. After that I just knew they were going to win. It will be interesting to see how Illini do over next four or five games because I really think what I was feeling was the proverbial switch being flipped and a turning point for this team. Not saying they’re going to win out, but this is the best I’ve felt about this Illini team all season. Hang on, I think things are going to get very interesting.

Such an enjoyable game, incredible play in the second half. Win on the road like this shows the maturity of this team. Frazier was incredible, Kofi hung in there after tough first half. I liked how Coach used the bench much of the game. Really nice.
