Nice post! Was at the game with my brother and two of my longtime best friends. We decided to just bask in the glory of the court storm from above rather than participate in it. Will go up on the top shelf among my fondest sports memories.
Finally caught up on this thread and I can't add anything that you fine people havent said already. We took an unconventional route to get here but we, Illini Nation, deserve this. Couldn't have happened to a better team or a better fanbase. My heart is happy.
May this be our springboard.
I actually started tearing up when I saw this picture. I love Trent Frazier.
Same here. But I also thought of his quote about we need to forget this happened tomorrow.I actually started tearing up when I saw this picture. I love Trent Frazier.
Frazier is one of my favorite Illini of all time. He doesn’t always score but his defense and decision making are amazing. If he was 2-3 inches taller he would have been unstoppableI actually started tearing up when I saw this picture. I love Trent Frazier.
Agreed. Offensively wasn't his night last night. It wasn't Bohannon's night either but in contrast frazier impacted the game in many other ways which is why he will be sorely missed next year.Frazier is one of my favorite Illini of all time. Thank you: Mr. Trent Frazier, Mr. Damonte Williams, Mr. Alphonso Plummer, Mr. Kofi Cockburn, and Mr. Jacob Grandison! To the current coaches and also the coaches that were here and brought these men into the program. Kudos!I actually started tearing up when I saw this picture. I love Trent Frazier.
We (as in the fans) certainly don't need to forget it. The team and coaches need to forget it, which I believe was his point.Same here. But I also thought of his quote about we need to forget this happened tomorrow.
I should have posted the tweet. Yes he was clearly talking about the team.We (as in the fans) certainly don't need to forget it. The team and coaches need to forget it, which I believe was his point.
I'm going to remember last evening, and how I felt this morning and all day today, for a long time to come.
Sorry; after I posted that I went to kitchen, came back, read what I wrote, and thought "gee, I sound like a tool."I should have posted the tweet. Yes he was clearly talking about the team.
I'll deliver it for him!
Haha. No worries. I’ve been here too long to be offended that easily.Sorry; after I posted that I went to kitchen, came back, read what I wrote, and thought "gee, I sound like a tool."
I was at that game too.I remember that well, "helped" pull down the south end zone goal post (there's video from overhead somewhere on YouTube, both goal posts were snapped off almost instantly under the swarm of humanity). Great memories.
I was at that game too.
That was the only Big Ten team ever to beat every other team in the conference in the same season.
The surge at the 3:40 mark is simply fantastic.
Safety schoolCan anyone tell me what Crush was chanting as the Murrays were shooting their free throws near the end of the game? It did seem like it bothered their concentration.
Ok, Josh, just print the lifetime contract out already.Heard Underwood tell a funny story on his radio show tonight.
So he had told Hawkins during shootaround prior to the game that he was going to need to give them 12 rebounds in the game. Hawkins ended up with 11.
Hawkins texted Underwood this morning and said "Coach I came up short".
Underwood texted him back just two words..."D*** it"
