We do not have a PG issue
We will very soon find out. I'm assuming that given the significant uptick in competition, we're going to be seeing many, many more critical end of game situations, pressure free throw situations, clock management, beating presses/traps and quite honestly, we'll be facing quality coaching staffs that have the tools(talent and depth) to be able to really cause problems.

Love the Rutgers win. Winning by double digits on the road is significant.

The only game, to date, that we've had critical possessions late in games was versus Marquette after we built a 5 to 6 point lead. I think we turned the ball over, at minimum, of four times in a row. Obviously not great.

I don't know if this should be considered a PG issue vs a situation where we MIGHT not have a reliable ball handler? We primarily have three(TSJ, MD and TR). I think that Ty, singularly, might take too much heat, but on the whole...ball security and good decision making under pressure(to me) will be the difference between a good season and a great season.

Time will tell. Hope you're right.

You mean several as in “not many”? I’d say my point that the overwhelming majority are not advocating for that is true. Critiquing his performance doesn’t mean one can’t know he is the best option and certainly doesn’t in and of itself make anyone a Ty hater.

I thought TSJ made some poor decisions n Rutgers game that resulted in turnovers. To say that makes me a TSJ hater is a joke and couldn’t be further from the truth.
Nope. I mean "several" as in "a lot." You missed a lot of posts. I have seen it being said since the first exhibition game. Your last statement is quite a leap.

IMHO we looked much better with Domask out top with the ball than when Hawkins does it. It could also depend on the defense, looking better this time doesn't make it universal.

Other point, not Playing DGL a few minutes in a blowout and Dain at least a few minutes in the second half is a good way to make them think about the portal if Coach makes it a habit.

Incorrect.

He is a freshman on defense, and a work in progress.
I think due to his size he will always be at somewhat of a disadvantage in the style of defense that we run. We don't like to help off shooters (in order to prevent 3 pt attempts) and we try to avoid getting into help and recover situations. Which means that bigger guards will be able to bully him to the basket using booty ball. Not all teams will take advantage, but when they do it'll be tough for DGL to fight that.
i think there's a decent example out there of how to transition from an undersized, offense-minded freshman guard to a plus defender

Ty has turned out to be a serviceable pg as long as he stays within his capabilities, even though that is NOT his natural position. He is not a 5-8 assist to 1-2 turnover type gaurd and not someone who can break down the defense with his ball handling. What he can do is ball security, start the offense, and abuse the other gaurds by driving/backing them down to the basket. I do think he can be sped up and sometimes makes risky passes due to pressure to make plays being out there as the point gaurd. We definitely need Ty on the floor for his defense and rebounding but with the others we usually have on the floor we can help him with the ball handling and distribution. With our roster we are not going to have that one guy that gets 5-8 assists a game but we are capable of having 3-4 guys getting 2-3 assists a game. This team has shown the ability to play well together and if we keep that up we are going to be a force come March.

Careful, next time you want to save a pdf... Who will help ya? Your tech support may be stuck working the clutch
It's funny because Boomers and Zoomers both struggle with technology but for polar opposite reasons. Boomers didn't grow up with it, so for most it is foreign to them. Zoomers grew up with it but technology is now so sophisticated that it "just works" so when it doesn't work, they struggle to figure out why.

To stay on topic, really impressive win that had us looking the best we've looked in a couple years.

We are all born ignorant. It takes effort to remain that way or to change. All depends on the person

He is as big as Trent and more athletic. His size will hinder him against guys Ty’s size in the paint but he will also give them fits out side that range. Think he can be as good as he decides to be.

So far Ty has been great in knowing what he can do. He abuses his man in the paint and doesn’t shoot 3 pointers. Also believe he has really improved his ball handling skills. Turned it from a Negative to a positive. Agree with him being sped up with the press and making bad passes but as his comfort level improves it will slow down for him. Like passing on the press rather than dribbling. They will make teams pay for pressing them. Too many guys capable of finishing at the rim with limited players back.

Boomers invented it. Read a book.

I agree with this statement. There were a lot of opportunities to score after we broke the Rutgers press. First road game so we seemed cautious (which is normal and fine). I think as the season progresses and teams try to do that to us we'll end up with dunks and wide open 3s. We are too fast, have too many passers, have too many upper classmen, and we can shoot and score at the rim. I almost would like to see teams try to press us. He's probably already doing it, but hope we're practicing breaking the press in practice every day. Throw 6-7 defenders out there and have 5 on offense break it. I'm really excited about this season. We're better, but also so much more fun to watch this year. We're unselfish and nobody has an ego, which I absolutely love. Oh, and we're REALLY REALLY good at defense and rebounding (what champions are made of).

I think other than IQ and learning schemes his biggest thing will be adding muscle so he can wall guys off on drives better. Currently he can get pushed through. Beyond that I don’t think his size is awful — seems to have a decently long wingspan
I agree that he needs to add muscle. I think he has the quickness to be a good defender. My bigger issue right now is that he looks lost defensively.

Loves Domask's game he's so patient with the ball, just plays at his own pace and beats people.

Also, I think Harmon is really flying under the radar here. Great depth piece, good on the boards, capable of scoring, and will be able to spell Rodgers effectively while Domask and Shannon play nearly every minute of close games.
Appreciated this, in person Saturday, Domask is good at basketball. TSJ is veryyy good at basketball...
