Not to take anything away from the excellent and load-bearing star performances by Shannon and Domask, but that feels like the most we've been able to rely on guys eligible to return next year, especially guys other than Rodgers.
And considering how bought in Dain and DGL seem, I'll be real sad if for some reason either left. The way they have come on late in the season is Every Day Guys personified.

Hated our first half but man did we play well in the 2nd half. We can not let Dain leave after this season, he is playing so well right now.

I hope Brad finally sees what he has in Dain
IMHO, BU has a complete understanding, more than anyone else, what DD can do...if he comes with energy and focus on both ends of the floor. His lack of doing that the first half of the season was obvious. Two things keep him on the bench more than he would likely prefer...FTs and the success of the players in the 5 out offense. That will not change this season...but that offense will need revions for next year to include a DD that deeply wants to play and win.

Kudos to DD for making great choices today between when to drive and try to score and when to kick out. His game is growing. Sure wish I had an hour or two with him to help him eliminate all the useless motion in his FT technique and focus on a simple three things that could improve him 20% +.

I said in my last post the Illini and Dain take them down. Great all-around game by him today. TJS is TJS every day. Marcus just a great overall performance. Hawkins defense and rebounding was good. Luke and Dra hit some big 3's when we needed it. Defense in 2nd half stepped up. Now go get #2 against Duquesne, Do not take them lightly, they are pesky and have good guards.

My mind wanders to the same places… HOWEVER: Plenty of time to pontificate on these matters during the post season, my friend.

Worries for another day.

For now, we savor the sweet taste of glorious victory and delicious anticipation for Saturday’s battle.

I mean the scuttlebutt has always been Dain and DGL, with maybe Moretti as a Crean candidate.

IMO Dain should be priority #1 in NIL terms, do not let that man off this campus.

We are DGL's 5th school in 5 years, but there is great promise there and we should be eager to keep him.

And there are no circumstances in which Moretti's true PG skillset is not a useful weapon that makes us deeper and more flexible.

It's 2024 in college basketball. It's rare for any team to have zero portal losses. But I really want everybody back and strongly feel we should make that a priority with our NIL bucks.

TSJ & Dain carried us, sprinkle in solid additions by DGL & Goode off the bench and a pretty good game from Domask and an ok game from Hawkins. Impressive we won handedly, especially when considering how bad Rodgers, Quincy, and Harmon were. The 3 of them contributed almost nothing. I don't think we make it far with a scared Rodgers and a non existent Quincy.
